Won't sleep on her back

DD is 4 months and will not sleep on her back tonight. I keep rolling her over but she keeps rolling back onto her stomach. I'm worried because she doesn't want to turn her head much to the side either and is almost face down. I know she is breathing but am afraid to go to sleep. Is this common? What have any of you done about it?Chat Icon

Re: Won't sleep on her back

well my daughter hated her back since birth but i started putting her on her stomach at 2 months. she was able to lift her front up turn her head side to side. so since she could do that she was ok. my family members on the other hand hated it.

Re: Won't sleep on her back

Thanks, I can't stop checking on her. She seems to be sleeping more soundly than on her back because I keep going in and messing with her (turning her head to the side more although she just moves it back) and she hasn't awakened. I hope it's okay. She has good head/neck control and rolls over by herself.

Re: Won't sleep on her back

At 4 mos she should be OK sleeping on her belly. She is old enough to not stay in a position where she cant breathe.

My DD has been sleeping on her belly since she was 2 mos old and honestly even though it was bc of her a/r, she sleeps SO much better than on her back.

Re: Won't sleep on her back

Ava has slept on her belly since she was less than two months old. It helped her sleep through the night and also helped her reflux. I have more of a fear of her sleeping on her back and spitting up and choking on it than of her suffocating from sleeping on her belly.
