If DC doesn't like a food... do you still give it to them anyway?

Mikey doesn't like peaches... and it's pretty obvious. But I feel like I should still give it to him anyway... that he might learn to like it.

What do you guys do? Do you force them or just iliminate that food?

I'd give it at least 5 tries before giving up. I wouldn't force it, but sometimes they just have to get used to a new flavor.

I agree. I would keep trying with different combinations. DS didn't like peas but mix them enough times with something he did like & he ate them.

I remember reading somewhere that it takes at least 4 tries for a child to get used to a food, so you may want to stick it out a little longer.

We've been at this for a whole month. I'm going to bring it up to the doctor but I wanted to know what you guys did.
Should I mix it with another fruit or mix it with his cereal?

Moe-
Mikey has 3 1/2 TBS cereal (I rotate barley, rice & oatmeal) and a 1/2 jar of fruit (I rotate pears, peaches, applesauce & bananas) 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening.
On Monday he starts veggies and I'm not sure how the schedule will work adding in the veggies. We go to the doctor tomorrow.

Hi!

I would try mixing it first with his cereal. Thats what I did. And then ask the doc. tomorrow.Nicolas hates the peaches too. They are tart.

We start veggies Monday and have fruit and cereal in the AM & PM and then the veggies in the afternoon for lunch.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Luka didnt like Rice cereal or peas at first and witht he rice I started to add apples to it and then stopped once I saw he was eating and now he eats it alone. Same with peas but with the peas I noticed it has to be pretty warm. I want to like all foods because both DH and I are picky and I dont want him to be. Now that he is eating both veggies and fruit and I give him cereal and fruit in the morning and then cereal and veggie in the later afternoon.

I read that on average it takes up to 12 tries before you can really tell if a baby likes something or not. Don't know if I have the patience for 12 tries, but hell, why not?

I try a few times. If he keeps rejecting it I wait a little while (about a month) and then try again. It's worked with a few things.

Michael eats his cereal and fruit at 8AM. He eats 5oz after the solids.
At around 11:30AM he eats 8 oz and at 3:00PM he eats somewhere between 6-8oz.
Then for dinner at 6PM he eats the cereal and fruit and the 5oz again.
