Friend's SIL just found out...Updated-is this normal?
that her baby has no heartbeat.....my friend just called me in hysterics.....
She was apparently 8 weeks along and just found out she was PG....
Updated: They knew since 4 weeks, and the 1st sono at 5 weeks had no heartbeat, so the Dr. wanted to wait until 8 weeks for another sono. Is that normal?

I am so sorry to hear this!! A lot of us have been through it and know how painful this is. I had a mc at 9 weeks. If your friend wants to chat have her sign on here...there are lots of girls who can help her

5 weeks might be too early to hear a heartbeat so thats probably why they waited...

Yes but this is horrible IMO. If she had lost the baby they could have checked her beta levels to see if they were doubling which they wouldn't be. This Dr basically emotionally tortured her because he was too lazy (or stupid) to do his job. Please tell her to find a new Dr-she will probably need a D&C if she did not bleed yet and has had no HB since 5 weeks,

I ws thinking the same things.....obviously I don't know the whole story, ut it sounded a little odd from what I heard....

I am so sorry.
I cannot believe he made her wait 3-4 weeks to tell her that.
This is very cruel and unprofessional. I guess empathy is not in his vocubulary.

well, now apparently, there was all the proper bloodwork indicating pregnancy, however at 5 weeks, there was no heartbeat, which they said could be normal. They made her wait 3 weeks for another sono to confirm....
