Looking for a church
So we're looking for a new church. We are Lutheran, but our church seems to be a poor fit at this point...we are looking for a church with contemporary music/views, a strong children's program, and liberal views (my sil is homosexual and we want our church to be tolerant and welcoming of all life styles). Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Looking for a church
We attend Living Word Chuch in Hauppauge, its a contemporary non-denominational Christian Church, with real life/relatable messages every Sunday. It is welcoming to ALL. NOT evangelistic. The worship band is AMAZING!!!!! The Pastor is a young (40), super cool, down to earth guy and is great to listen to speak. They churches vision message is "To be the church that unchurched people love to attend and grow in Christ." They have a FABULOUS kids program. Every Sunday during the 9:30 and 11:30 service, kids 4yrs (i think) through 5th grade go to 22:6, the kids program run by the youth pastor. (There is also a nursery if you need it.) Both of my kids went through the 22:6 program and LOVED it. My daughter is still in it, she's only in 1st. My son just aged out of it and he now attends the youth group program on Friday nights, also run by the Youth Pastor. They have SO much fun. They do VBS during the summer for the kids, which is amazing. There is also a youth retreat for 6th grade and older once a year. They have a women's ministry that meets Thursday nights also, if you wanted to go. We just recently sold our current building bc we were outgrowing it. We are temporarily meeting in the Auditorium of a school that the Hauppauge district doesn't use, but we are currently closing this month on a GORGEOUS 5 acres in Hauppauge to build the new church on. VBS will be held on these grounds this summer. Let me know if you have any questions, it is an AMAZING church. I love that it caters to all ages, its still small enough that you can get to know people and the Pastor knows everyone by name but big enough that you can just blend in if you are more comfortable with that. We started attending about 3 years ago after parting ways with the Catholic Church, which wasnt a good fit for us anymore either, similar to you. I linked our FB page and site below. Sunday services are live streamed to the FB page, so if you want to see what its about, its a good way to check us out. Today, our Youth Pastor lead the service, so go back a few Sundays to hear our lead pastor if you want. They also have an app you can download from the app store (Living Word Church LI) and listen to our podcast (can also access podcasts through the website). Again, please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
