Got hit with the Uber Cleaning Fee Scam
Warning for those who take Uber after hanging out..
So I heard about this a few months ago where drivers send pics to complain about passengers throwing up. And since a lot of times they’re drunk they don’t remember if it happens or not. Well Uber try to charge my husband $150 cleaning fee for a ride we took from the city. However, it was 3 of us and weren’t drunk like the driver thought.
My DH disputed the claim but they responded immediately with the fact the driver had proof. I made him write a negative review to the driver, email them back and tell them we are reporting Uber to the TLC and will get a lawyer if we have to. He also called and disputed the charge on his card, Uber ended up sending an email they will refund the money.
It gross because there is no way to contact Uber and speak with someone and any driver can pull this off because Uber automatically goes by the picture.
I stopped using Uber personally a while back because of they way they treated their female engineers. My husband scheduled the ride. But I don’t even think I will use Lyft anymore. Going back to old fashion taxis.

It’s insane. My brother in law drives for Uber and said this is a known scam and it was on the news the other day.
It is crazy how Uber accept this proof and just charged your card when they know this has been surfaced as a scam the drivers do. They actually will dirty their own car to get this fee.

A photo of vomit?? So basically it could happen one time, they snap a few photos from different angles, and make an extra $600?? That’s ridiculous!

You know what we should start doing? Taking a picture of the back of the car as we get out.
It will be time and date stamped by your phone.
As proof the car was clean when you left it.

Uber is trash for a multitude of reasons. I stick with Lyft and local taxi services.

I stopped using Uber and had to remove app from my phone. My account was comprised numerous times all over the US.

I feel like most of the drivers drive for both Uber and Lyft though.
How is Lyft any different/better?
I'm actually genuinely curious if there is a real difference...

i have used uber three times. the first time, i wasn't even the passenger.
i just don't have the need for it.
this information makes me sick. yeah, not likely to use them ever again.

That's insane. I can't believe the drivers can get away with that. I guess taking a picture right after getting out would help, the driver would know not to try that shit and if they did, there is proof. I wonder if the drivers are fired if they get caught.

I am not sure if after multiple attempts they penalize drivers but they don't do anything after the first complaint. My DH even asked the CS person what happens to the driver, and the response was "We resolved the issue and you received a full refund".
Plus I think they get away with it so much because some may not remember to fight it and those who do may not even try after the first rejection email. My husband had to send a second mean response letting them know it was a scam and we will pursue legal action. So if you don't go hard at Uber, they will just charge you and say you don't have proof. I made him send the second response. Plus I also would've asked for the time stamp of the drivers pic. Because I knew we didn't do anything to his car, so either it was an old pic or he had to spend time messing his car up.
The crazy part was we were talking to the driver and he was laughing with us because my brother in law was speaking to him in Spanish. Assuming he was hispanic. He was telling us where he was from and everything.

People are such scammers it’s disgusting!!
I wonder how many times he’s done this and got away with it
