I understand why nothing can compete with Amazon

I bought a bunch of things from Target.com.

I went the other day to return some. I had the receipt from the box AND the orders on my phone from the app.

Couldn't return them! The system couldn't process the returns. They then offered to return everything for store credit. I said sure, not like I never shop there, lol.

They start the return and everything is coming up for the sale price. Ummm...no. I don't want a credit for LESS than what I paid, lol.

So I had to go home and do the return process online. Okay, not bad, but...I waited 20 minutes at the store for nothing and now I have to find time and boxes to pack everything back up and THEN make it to the store and wait on another line?

Then one thing I ordered never came. I requested it again. Great, no problem. They were fine to replace it. This was LAST week. I tracked it. Said it was to arrive Tuesday. Okay fine. Tuesday came and went. Checked again. Ready to arrive the 26th. 2 weeks??? Seriously??? By then, it's too late because it was an ugly Christmas sweater for my son's school party.

I know, totally first world problems, but Target can't get their shhhit together? 2 weeks to ship a shirt? Can't process a return with the original receipt AND the scan code from the app? No wonder Amazon is taking over.

My cousin was told me whenever she has an issue with target orders, she calls to complain and they just refund her and tell her to keep the stuff. Idk if I'd have that luck but with a try if you already wasted time trying to return in store. I just returned an order yesterday bc it came too late but I think it was as much the post office's fault as target's.

Yup! I shop on Amazon SO much! LOVE the ease of returning thing! I order a lot of clothes (they have some cute stuff!), and when it doesn't fit, put it in the bag, drop in the Post Office box outside, and my refund is processed the minute the post office scans the package!

I had the same issues with the orders not pulling up but I ended up getting more back than I paid - first time because they couldn’t adjust it down and the second time since I had gotten money off. I tried to tell them but it couldn’t be adjusted.

But the second time - I was there for an hour trying to return things. It was so frustrating since I had the paper receipt, the online receipt and my red card!

I’ve never had issues returning there in the past. And since they did the in store I am now banned from returning items without a receipt.

Re: I understand why nothing can compete with Amazon

Target has been awful this Christmas season. I had a pickup order that said it was ready. When I went to pick it up, they didn’t actually pull any of the items, and a few ended up not being in stock but the asshat kid already processed the order before checking and then they couldn’t pull the order up to return the missing items. I’ve never had this experience in the past so I blame it on the seasonal help.

These brick and mortar stores are their own worst enemy. They know Amazon is taking over and yet they are doing nothing to keep the customers coming in. If they want to compete with Amazon they need to step up their game.

I have a love hate relation with Amazon. I hate that they are taking over. I don't like a monopoly. The biggest reason I still use it is because my prime membership covers shipping to Alaska where my grandkids are. Trying to get things shipped there from Target, Walmart or list of other stores is impossible. Or if they do it will cost me a fortune.
I have even tried to buy on line at Walmart and have my daughter pick up at the store near her and they won't do it. Because it's Alaska. So I order from Amazon.

That's a really terrible return process.

Despite all the negative capitalist aspects of Amazon, from a consumer standpoint, they're unbeatable.

Re: I understand why nothing can compete with Amazon

I shipped a return to Amazon on Tuesday.
The full refund was posted today.

DH took a return to Kohls yesterday, he waited in line for 40 minutes because there was only 1 person handling the returns and there were about 15 people in line. I don't like Kohls either because returns are never easy and the customer service desk is always in the back, a marketing ploy to get you to buy more stuff, but a nuisance nevertheless.

I have been tracking a gift for both my kids at Target. I work in the city and it was at the Tribeca one the website said. I went. Not there. No explanation

Decided to check Amazon on a lark, because it is so late, and got it for less money and delivered by tomorrow night.

It's unreal.

See, I shop at Kohl's specifically bc I like their return policies. Aside from the long wait sometimes, they take anything back and half the time I feel like I get back more than I remember paying somehow. Last time I waited on their line, the guy in front of me was returning an unopened comforter he'd bought three years earlier and sure enough they gave him a full refund.

I have had such an opposite experience with Target this holiday season; they have been great! This is speaking from online ordering (vs in store shopping). Online, I have had zero issues with a return, super easy to process and you can return by mail which saves the long lines. The return label is free and it seems if the item is under a certain amount, they issue the refund and tell you to keep the item. You can also start the return process in the app and have the barcode ready to scan when you arrive.

No not really. They even tried calling a phone number. So silly.

I was told that the cash register wasnt reading the receipts right and that the receipts may have been missing a number. It happened to me with 4 separate orders...

ETA - I ordered almost everything from Target this season and their shipping as been phenomenal. And the person who I dealt with in doing the returns was great as well. DH runs a Christmas party and i bought a lot of items for that and returned what wasn’t used. And i returned something I got for my cousins baby since she already had it.

So guess what? They better figure it the fuk out.
Take money out of the cash drawer if you have to and hand it to me. Your computer glitch is NOT my issue.
I'd have flipped.

For me they did - it took awhile because it was going to set me over the limit of returns without an ID so they wanted to exhaust every option first.

I went over the limit this year for the first time. They still take things back but you have to do an exchange there and then rather than getting store credit. Not as big a deal as I thought.
