Christmas card pictures
Is anyone else totally uninspired about Christmas card pics this year? I typically take my kids pictures and we have done some creative things in the past years. I just feel like I don't have anything new to do this year. I can't think of anywhere to go to take pics. How is the Cutting Field Arboretum in Oakdale? What are some things you guys are doing this year?

Re: Christmas card pictures
My photographer usually takes us to Frank Melville Park. There’s some water there, a pretty footbridge, and a nice red barn. Lots of trees too for foliage.
There’s also the historical society in Wantagh which is TINY but there’s an old railroad train that makes for a cute backdrop.

When i took my own pics I went to the Cutting Arboretum all the time! It's perfect! So many beautiful backdrops.
Also check out the Sayville Grange....some cute ols buildings there to photograph in front of....
My photographer did a camp fire session this year. Fake campfire (she Photoshopped in the flames), whole camping set up, blankets. Came out adorable!!

That is so cute!! Can you share the name of the photographer? We're doing Santa Experience this year, but I would love something original like that.

Re: Christmas card pictures
I do my own pics, and each year, I try to incorporate something new in the background.
This year, I have a new truck, so that's in the photos. When we got our dog, we focused on her. When the kitchen was redone, we used that as the background. Etc, etc.

Teresa Geraghty Photography. I am not sure if she has any more outdoor campfire mini.sessions available...we did ours last month. But check out her FB page. She has the pictures up there so you can see them and maybe reach out to her. It was adorable...she even had real s'mores!

The arboretum in Oakdale is a perfect place to take many kinds of wonderful photos. You have the barns, many trees, the water, all great backdrops. One of my favorites there was fall time with the leaves bright everywhere. I took our wreath and just hung it over a fence post. The fence was very rustic, DS stood and it was perfect. On the back was him over by one of the barns.

She's awesome. Very creative but not over the top. And her pictures always come out amazing. (And my DD is in one of the pics she posted on her FB of the outdoor sessions! )

Re: Christmas card pictures
I'm just putting my kids in christmas pajamas and having them sit in front of the tree. I'm so not a pinterest-y type person.
