Donated blood today
Donated blood today. We have a blood drive 2x a year at my office, so it's very convenient, and the company has incentives like free lunch and a Kindle raffle.
I usually do the Alyx machine.

I donated for the first time a few months ago and plan to do it again soon. My youngest needed a transfusion when she was born and it definitely felt good to pay it forward.

That's great!
Today is my 45th donation. A combination of platelets, red blood cells, and whole blood.
I started out doing whole blood, then did the apheresis (platelets) donations for a few years. Now I try and do Alyx (red blood cells) as much as possible. I still do whole blood once in a while.

I used to donate all the time but now have a condition that prevents me from doing so. Thanks for being a donor.

I haven't donated in a long time. Last few times were for direct donations, of whole blood and platelets.

The donation centers are great if you're interested in doing it more! There's never a wait and they make it really comfortable and convenient (way better than local drives!).

Definitely. I do go to the local center once in a while.
I also go to blood drives for particular causes once in a while. Sometimes a community organization will have a blood drive, or if there's a big demand (like from Hurricane Florence), I'll go to those.
I think the only thing I've never done is the mobile trucks. They often have them at street fairs. The last time I came across one, I wasn't eligible to donate again, so it wasn't even a thought.
With the Alyx donations, I can only donate once every 4 months, so with two scheduled donations at work, it's hard to fit in extra donations.

I wish i could donate
I used do it to every time i had the opportunity, but they put a law in place about 15 years ago that stated i was ineligible because i lived in England during a time that there was mad cow disease - 35 years ago. So apparently my blood is not wanted now!

That's great! 45 donations is impressive! I have 26 under my belt. I'm working on that gold card lol. I really want to get a black donation card (10 gallons) one day.

 Thank you, Thank You all.. I receive transfusions every few months. I always say a silent prayer thanking the beautiful soul that donated.
I obviously can't donate but my whole entire family does.
