Summer rental
Anyone rent a house/condo or stayed in a hotel on the beach or within a 5 minute walk in NJ or NY? Don’t want to drive more than a few hours. Thanks!

A few weeks ago my family rented a house on Long Beach Island in NJ. We were 9 houses (1 1/2 small blocks) from the beach. Was a 2 1/2 -3 hour drive to get there.

Summer rental
We rent every year on Long Beach Island. I totally love it. My dream is to buy a shore house there. The house we stay in is right across the street from the ocean. The beach is beautiful on that street too.

I grew up spending summers in Beach Haven on LBI. We were always on the beach block so it was close to run back to the house for lunch bathroom etc.

I found it through VRBO 3 years ago. However, now there is a Facebook group called LBI, NJ rentals. You can ask to be a member. Then you can post exactly what you’re looking for and homeowners respond with links to their properties. It’s very easy and helpful to use.
There are a ton of mini golf places, a little amusement park, water park, lighthouse, free concerts every night, bike riding, surf school, craft places where you can paint pottery, make jewelry or even make a stuffed mermaid or surfboard, pirate cruise, fishing charter, sunset cruise and a children’s theater. We have never been at a loss of what to do with our kids. It is a very family friendly place with delicious restaurants. Many are BYO.
