Long Beach Island? Or other beach towns? for a summer rental
I'm trying to look into renting a house this summer for a week with a few of our friends and their children. We would like to be near the beach but also have some restuarants near by - maybe a pool?
Does LBI have that sort of thing? Or any Jersey Shore towns?
We don't want a young, party all the time place but dont' want too stodgy either.
Any suggestions? I know the Outer Banks are good but they are too far a drive for us at this point.

yup! i'm a south jersey girl- born and raised there 
LBI is a great place to rent a house for a week... i would look into beach haven, becasue its near a shopping area and water slide park. ocean city, nj is also nice- but its a dry town so no bars... but it does have the board walk, which is great at night... either one is great

NJ has so many nice places for a family to rent- LBI, Cape May (condos, not houses), Avalon, Stone Harbor, Ocean City
NY- Fire Island or Montauk

From my nj relatives my li family has rented a house on lbi for numerous years. LBI is good for a older and children crowd. we usually stayed in beach haven and haven beach on the ocean side about a block from the beach. always love it.
eta: Now to february is when we rented the house. lots of people are repeat renters, so not much is left if you decide too late.
