Blocking a phone number
If you block a phone number on your phone, and that person tries to call or text you, what do they see/hear on their end?

Re: Blocking a phone number
I tried this once to see, because I was just curious too. I blocked my work number temporarily and called my cell from my work number. On Verizon at least- it just went straight to VM. Like one ring or no ring and voicemail. As if the phone was off or had no service.
Not sure how it is for other carriers.

I thought all it did was just ring.
I am surprised you were able to get your VM after doing a block? Kinda defeats the purpose.
Ill have to try it out too and see what I get.

Yeah give it a try. Block your home or work number and call. For me, it went to VM. That's Verizon on a Samsung Galaxy phone. Not sure if other carriers or even phones are different. Don't forget to unblock when you are done!

Blocking a phone number
Ok, so I just tried it - from another cell phone (thanks for the idea!) and left a voice message and sent a text. Neither one was received on my phone. Nothing comes up on the blocked phone to indicate that it was blocked or the message didn't go through - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing lol

LOL, so people will just think you are ignorning them. Brilliant.

For texts, I read that it shows as "delivered" to the person, but they don't actually see it. Apparently, the blocked person doesn't know they've been blocked - just seems like they're being ignored.

Re: Blocking a phone number
They can still leave a message. On an iphone if you tap on voicemail & scroll to the bottom you'll see "blocked messages".

Yes, you can get the message, but it is under "blocked", just not in with your other messages.

Blocking a phone number
It's kind of annoying in a way that the person who is blocked will just think you are ignoring them. I guess it really doesn't make a difference, but I think I wish there was some type of notification to the person that the call/message did not go through
