I'd like to straighten my teeth but I can't afford Invisalign. I've seen ads for a similar product, but it's thru the mail (and much cheaper). Has anyone tried it? I don't have hard core issues - just want to close some gaps.

Smile Direct Club seems to be a great option. My friend is doing them (just sent the mold back) and is excited.

Re: faux-invisilign

A friend of ours has an invisalign wannabe. It is SO obvious. I feel like actual braces would be less obvious.

As someone that has horrible teeth - I think that anyone that would consider Smile Direct or something similar is insane. You can do some serious damage to your teeth if you try to move them without being under the care of an orthodontist. I would never, ever take this chance to correct something minor. I have to do Invisalign right now to correct something to avoid losing my teeth so I understand how expensive it is. But dental health is way more important than saving some money. I would just leave your teeth alone if you can't afford an orthodontist.

Re: faux-invisilign

My teeth aren’t the best, but I would go and spend the money and get it taken care of when you can with an orthodontist.

The thought of braces makes me shudder. I had them for years and they were so painful.

One thing to consider is that your teeth will be weak after you finish whatever you do. I had to wear a retainer [which a ferret I had as a pet ate (I must have taken it out in my sleep)]. That was expensive.

Agree with this... if you’re doing something like this with your teeth you should be under the regular care of an orthodontist to check on progress or any issues that might arise

I have Invisalign now. Looking at the other brands, it seems they don't use attachments on the teeth, just the clear retainer-type trays. I don't know that it would be as effective. My dentist told me the attachments push/pull the teeth in the direction they are supposed to go in conjunction with the trays.

This.
If you can't afford to do it correctly, just leave it alone
