pick a number, any number... party hats

i'm doing a couple of small DIY projects for SO's party. while i was hunting pinterest, i came across an idea of birthday party hats with the guest of honor's face on them.

i dug up some pictures of SO as a kid to use, but i'm not sure where to stop the craziness lol

how many DIFFERENT pictures would you use?

the guest list is 80, i'm guess-timating about 60-65 will come.
i'm planning to have people wear the hats for when SO arrives and they yell surprise and for a few fun pictures.

tia.

Sorry, this may be harsh but IMO people are going to wear the hats for the 10 seconds they are required to, then they will be taken off and left behind. So don't put in so much effort that you will be mad by that action.

I agree. I've done custom party hats more than once. They look super cute in pics for a kids party, but in reality no one ever wears them and that's at kids parties.

Adult parties, most ppl won't even put them on for 10 seconds because of the risk of messing their hair up... especially at the beginning of the party (maybe towards the end after everyone has had a few drinks). They will hold it in their hand if anything. If you're dead set on the idea, I would do maybe 15-20 max and just place them around as decoration. I def don't think you need 80 of them. Some people will put it on and take a silly selfie, but at an adult party, they won't get used.

LOL yeah. My hair gets messed up if someone breathes too heavily near me, so no way can I put a hat on whatsoever.

oh, i completely understand and expect that they won't be used for more than a minute, if that.

and i'm NOT making one for each person. i know that won't happen either. i was thinking of making about 30-ish.

in a perfect world, they'll all be worn for the surprise and for some fun pictures.

in reality, they'll make some nice pictures of how things were set up, they'll be looked at and laughed at by those who remember him at that age, and they might make it into some silly pictures.

What about this face on a stick? I think it would show up better in photos and be a fun photo prop

i was expecting a hat/hair statement and reading the words "face on a stick" make me chuckle out loud!!

hhmmm, i hadn't even thought of that.
no messy hair to think about and it would be much easier to have guests participate.

the stick is a good idea. I also have made my own banners for my daughters birthday parties ( family parties) using pictures from each month - then doing it for each year as she got older. She hates it, I love it LOL

I like the face on a stick idea! It's funny and you can DIY if you have a good printer. I think I've seen it on groupon too.

I like this idea a lot better. I say 4 or maybe 5 because it divides evenly into 30 lol
