Do we need to buy a gift?

DD just started a new preschool.
She was invited to a birthday party for a kid in her class.

The party is going to be a double party - for the kid in her class and also the kid's older brother.

We don't know the kid (DD just started) we definitely do not know the older brother.

Do we need to bring 2 gifts? One for the kid and one for the older brother?

Thanks

I would personally buy a little something for the sibling.

Do we need to buy a gift?

No it’s totally not necessary. Plus I doubt the parents want/need more stuff.

I don’t think it’s necessary to - you only buy something for the sibling if you’re concerned they will feel left out but he will have his own friend and gifts. Or if you want to truly acknowledge his bday, but you don’t know him, and he doesn’t know you. I think the parent would feel guilty of the party setup knowing you spent more $

Re: Do we need to buy a gift?

No. Not necessary. DS was invited to a double party and I didn't even know till I got there. He was invited to one friend.
Maybe if it was a twin I would.
I would if I know the family and have done playdates at the house. A little something, but a kid in the class you don't really know... No need.

Since you don't know the family - no.

The older brother isn't going to feel left out, he has his own friends coming - and he would have no idea who the gift was from anyway.

No.

DD was invited to a party for her classmate. She wasn't invited to a party for the older sibling.

Do we need to buy a gift?

So I bought a $35 gift for the classmate (of the school that DD has been at for 2.5 weeks).
Wife was not happy that I did not get anything for the older kid.

So we spent $10 to get 2 small gifts for the older child also.

Guess my opinion and the opinions of this thread was vetoed lol

And no way in hell would I have gone and bought something after.

How did that play out? Did you get something after the party and send it home with the kid from you daughters class?

I don't think OP should tell his wife to go F herself, I can guarantee that will not end well for him, lol! I'm assuming when he told his wife that he didn't get anything for the other sibling ( which honestly, why in the hell would you buy something for the sibling) they went out and bought the additional gifts before the party.
