I tried to make DD a vegetarian like me and it backfired on me..... my husband won. she loves meat.

she is 5.5 and she eats all chicken, plain chicken, grilled chicken, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, ground chicken, etc. I used to give ONLY organic chicken until about 5 years old, this past year I've gotten way too lax about it.

Oh and turkey. I consider like chicken and turkey to be the same thing. but she eats a TON of turkey sausage. I think turkey sausage might be her favorite meat of all.

she tolerates salmon, loves mussels and clams and some white fish. (after watching plastic ocean movie, might never give her any of this ever again)

She has tried organic beef, she likes beef meatballs I make from the frozen trader joe organic beef. she begs for any type of beef meatballs. she has eaten a beef burger but I don't give her a lot of red meat but she has always liked it.

I think she even liked the corned beef I made on St. Patricks Day, I think she ate a ton of the corned beef (first year she has ever been given any to taste).

I'm probably missing something...

Shes an amazing eater, but I still really wish she didn't eat meat LOL....

My 5 and 9 year old boys love meat. They eat all different kinds including ones I don’t eat (pork, ham and lamb). They’ve had picky stages, but I don’t remember them ever refusing meat.

While I'm a vegetarian, my kids (6 and 2+) eat chicken, salmon, pork, bacon, ribs, shrimp, lobster, ham/roast beef/turkey, and steak. They eat it all. Oh, and burgers, hot dogs, nuggets.

Meat is always a struggle. They all eat chicken. Everyone except the baby, who eats like he's going to the chair, is on/off with steak and pork. They all love salmon but it costs me a fortune. I need 2-3 lbs for each meal.

I forgot the one meat DD will eat without protest- Zorn's turkey. Not my turkey, not her grandmother's turkey. Zorn's only. She'll actually request it when asked what she wants for dinner.

Thanks everyone. I’m trying to gently get her to eat a little chicken (at least I know chicken fingers are on a menu pretty much everywhere) and maybe some ground beef, and I just wanted to see if my expectations were too high. It seems like there’s a big range, but getting her to eat some chicken is not too unreasonable....

I should add that she eats no veggies, won’t do beans, a few fruits (very recent additions , yay!), only egg whites from a hard boiled egg, only one type of cheese, and otherwise carbs. I have tried the “eat what’s on the table” method and she basically did not eat dinner for 2 weeks straight and then ate ravishingly at breakfast, she’s that stubborn. We’ve tried therapy, still trying behavior plans. Just wanted to run this thread to get an idea of what other kids are eating meat-wise.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as she is growing appropriately and in an acceptable weight range for her curve.

Will she eat Peanut Butter? Sometimes that is my daughter's only source of protein.

Chicken nuggets?

Pasta? They make pasta fortified with protein- smart taste or something like that.
You can use that to make mac and cheese even

I'm with you on the struggle of eating at restaurants, parties, holidays. My best bets at a restaurant are cheese quesadillas and hot dogs. Even when dd liked chicken nuggets she rarely ate chicken fingers from a restaurant. Mac n cheese at a restaurant is rarely normal enough for her, she'll only eat open faced grilled cheese made with cheddar so that's out, she isn't into pasta. We rarely eat out aside from occasional breakfasts.

Lol dd won’t eat melted cheese in a quesadilla or the quesadilla grilled so I have to order a tortilla with cheese not cooked.... that always gets a few raised eyebrows! But even that added to the repertoire was huge!

#1 (9)- any kind really. Hot dogs, burgers, steak, ham, pepperoni, salami, pork, tacos, meatballs, chicken, bacon, kielbasa, all kinds of seafood,

#2 (6)- meatballs, steak, burgers, salami, tacos, chicken, kielbasa,

#3 (3)- ham, salami, tacos, meatball (sometimes), pepperoni, chicken (occasionally),

DD is almost 3 and she will eat meatballs, hamburger/cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, chicken nuggets, fried chicken cutlets, fish sticks, and bacon. I'd love it if she ate steak and rotisserie/grilled chicken. Fingers crossed one day!
