Starting to walk and less sleep??
Dd is 10 months and was sttn pretty well. This week she has almost consistently woken at 3 am every night for a few minutes crying. She is also waking up earlier and not napping well at all. She is however, getting ready to walk. She pulls up to stand and tries to stand on her own alot. I read on the bump that babies who are getting ready to walk are extra sleepy so I am confused because this is definitely not our case. If anything our daughter never seems tired. Can anyone share their experiences? Is this a phase or some permanent regression? Thanks!

Re: Starting to walk and less sleep??
It's been a while for me, but from what I do remember that every milestone they have effects something else or sometimes slows down or stops another for a time. For me DS2 talked so much, but when he started walking then the talking slowed down while he concentrated on walking. Eventually they all come together. Maybe she wants to concentrate on walking so that could be effecting her sleep. As PP said she may be teething or as they get older they also become more alert and don't want to miss out. It's a phase and hopefully will be back to sleeping soon. Spring is coming so hopefully running outside soon and fresh air will help.

She already has 8 teeth so I guess it could be another tooth.. But it's not her first tooth.

Probably teething. She could be getting her molars. When my DD cuts a tooth she has sleep issues for a few weeks.

Yeah, the molars were the only time DD seemed even remotely affected by her teeth coming in. And it was around this age.
ETA: And no regression is permanent, IMO. They'll sleep eventually... maybe in time for high school when you have to drag them out of bed... but eventually.

Re: Starting to walk and less sleep??
MY DS is 10 mos and he's doing the opposite of your DD. He's been an awful sleeper at night, for naps. Hates the crib. But for the last three nights, he's pretty much STTN in his crib!! DH and I couldn't believe it.
He's getting over illness (currently on antibiotics) and is also all about walking. He's been cruising and standing for a while, and has also taken some first steps.
Hang in there. I'm sure it's just a phase. I hope mine continues to sleep but I'm not counting on it with how often things change at this age.

In our experience, learning a new skill actually translated to LESS sleep.
