Vitamins with flouride?
No. Fluoride in high levels can effect neurodevelopment. It is unclear exactly what levels are harmful so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

My reasoning also. My almost 11 year old DD has never had fluoride and hasn't had any cavities or teeth issues.

I do. I've been conflicted on it though because of discussions on here. But the two people I know that didn't know about the vitamins for their kids had horrible problems with their teeth by 6 years old. So I still give it to my kids.

I do. I've been conflicted on it though because of discussions on here. But the two people I know that didn't know about the vitamins for their kids had horrible problems with their teeth by 6 years old. So I still give it to my kids.
I tend to trust my doctor and her advice and knowledge more than a message board.
I would hope they wouldn't be telling me to put poison in my child's body.
I also remember taking fluoride vits for years as a kid and here I am at 43 years old, still alive, no health issues ever, and pretty sane.

Our pediatric dentist actually discourages giving kids vitamins with fluoride. She said it's overkill and can actually damage the adult teeth. Her recommendation was brush with fluoride toothpaste and possibly something about a rinse but I forget that part.

ACT kids is a good fluoride rinse.
DD uses it because she has an adult molar that has some genetic malformation of the enamel so it's prone to cavities.
They of course have to be old enough to know how to rinse without swallowing it.

I agree, but some people in the medical field are very “old school” and advise patients to do things that are now no longer recommended after current research. They just continue to dispense the same advice they did 30 years ago.
That being said I’m not against fluoride as I stated above—just other ingredients in the vitamins which have been proven to be dangerous.

No I hear you. Luckily DD's ped is pretty young and seems up to date on the newest recommendations and research so I do trust her advice

Vitamins with flouride?
my son just had 2 crowns and 3 fillings done under anethesia this morning. ( he's 4-- adopted from Korea 9 months ago. we're pretty sure his grandmother-aged Foster mom just gave him all the candy he wanted, and put him to bed with a bottle of juice every night HAHA) The pediatric dentist who did the work, gave us a prescription for fluoride vitamins as we left, to hopefully help out the rest of his teeth, and keep the adult teeth good for when its their turn. i trust him so i filled the prescription

I gave them when DD was younger and we weren't using flouride toothpaste yet. Once we switched to toothpaste with flouride, I stopped giving vitamins with flouride. DD also has several food allergies so I worry about her calcium intake and want to do as much as I can to protect her teeth.

DS was prescribed them when he was an infant, but when we went to the dentist, he said that fluoride isn't necessary until age 3 and not to give it to him. I don't remember why. So I alternated the rx vitamin with a reg multi-vitamin. I figure this way it was win-win. I know, it's crazy but whatever. What am I supposed to do with conflicting information? He's getting his vitamins daily that's all that matters right?
