Going rate for a daily house keeper.
What do you think is the going rate if I wanted to pay someone to come my house for 2 hours a day (Monday to Friday) and just help straighten up. Like small things - wipe down kitchen counter, load and unload dish washer, fold and put away laundry (not deep cleaning, no bathrooms, no mopping, etc. We have a biweekly cleaning service)
Like would $15 an hour be reasonable? I feel like a high school student could do what I need. It's not much. To me it''s less work than babysitting. Like literally, throw away the juice boxes that accumulate on my table throughout the day and put toys away.

That price seems reasonable. But I think I would want/expect my children to pick up after themselves and put their own toys away before hiring someone.

I agree...I wouldn’t spend $150/wk if most if it is something the kids could do themselves. Even if you offered them s small allowance.

Going rate for a daily house keeper.
Well thanks for the advice but my "kids" are babies and my childcare situation is just not ideal for cleaning (my mom watches them for free and is in a culprit in the mess) She is great with the kids, and saves us thousands of dollars a month in daycare/childcare, but does not maintain a tidy house (at least to our standards).
ETA: for example, she cooks dinner and has it ready for when I return from work but doesn't take care of the dishes or wipe down my stove. I am appreciative to come home to dinner but just exhausted and can't keep up with the toddler tornado every night. Plus I'd rather spend quality time with them than clean.

I think what you are offering is more than enough for what you need done and I agree you can probably get a responsible teenager to do it.

I don't know how big your house is but I can't imagine it would take 2 hours to wipe down counters and put away toys. I would maybe pay a flat fee for the week.

Going rate for a daily house keeper.
I would see about a local teenager. I think it’s more than reasonable. Have you spoke to your mom about how she leaves your house? I have my mom and a sitter and if they leave my house looking any less than I found it I would be pissed. My mother in law watched them yesterday because she was off and wanted to and while it was a nice break for my mom my house was trashed. DH had to call her to speak to her. My kids are also babies so I get toys out but I don’t think EVERYTHING they own should be out, put the big stuff away when they are done or do the dishes, wash bottles etc! I’m a neat freak so I totally get it!

It's about 3200 sq ft.
It's guess it is really a bit more than that. I'm not looking for a deep clean, more of someone to clear counters, clear dining room and kitchen table (if needed), fold the kids laundry if it's in the dryer, maybe load or unload the dishwasher when needed, and just put stuff back in it's place i.e., take sippy cups that end up in playroom or really everywhere and anywhere and put them in the sink or dishwasher.

Yes, like a million times. She tries. Somedays are better than others but generally not good.
Basically my options are:
Free childcare, where I know my kids are loved, safe, happy and well taken care of, but my house will be a mess.
Or Send them to full time daycare at $2500 a month and have a much more tidy home.
At this point I just feel like for $100-$150 a week, whatever it costs, it will be well worth it to just hire the help I think I need.
I think I will post on FB moms group and a friend recommended care.com. I need to scope it out.

I think paying an older high school kid $100 a week is good. I don’t know that I would do hourly because it sounds like you don’t always know how long they’ll be there.
