My husband took off this week, knowing the kids would be home, and apparently expects to "get things done". He just keeps saying "I'm trying to get things done...." " I need to get something done...." Meanwhile, the kids are going stir crazy, being loud, new and old toys are EVERYWHERE.... I'm going nuts!!!

and i think anything we would go out to do would be crowded, since so many people are off this week..... but something HAS to give!!!! Any ideas????

I'm not sure what to do either. So far, I'm unboxing toys we brought home last night and playing with them while my husband who is technically off answers work emails...

NY Hall of science has a huge gingerbread village so we are thinking of taking the kids to see that and explore. I'm mostly hoping the new toys will keep them busy.

My situation is a little different, because I am divorced but I brought my son and my SO's son to work w me today. Tomorrow my SO's son is with his mom, and my son is going to his dad's gf's work with her and her son.

Thursday my SO is off so he's taking both kids to see Star Wars

Friday it's my ex's bday so he gets my son.

And done. I'm so happy the break is only 4 days ( minus Christmas Day and New Year's Day which I am off)

Re: What do you do with your kids this week!??!?!?!

My husband is home this week as well so it’s us and our 4 year old son, and we’ve actually been having a really nice time without even leaving the house. I’m usually not one to enjoynjust sitting around but frankly I can’t thjnk of anything else I’d rather be doing this week. My DS and I just got over being sick, and I feel like there’s nowhere to really go this week anyway besides a movie and somewhere to eat. Kids places will be PACKED which I don’t find enjoyable, and stores will be crazy as well.

We’ve been cooking at lot as a family, playing board games, my husband and son can literally spend hours building legos (which is when I get some folding and laundry done). I got some crafts stuff for us to do together which we haven’t gotten to yet.... we watched a movie yesterday in our pajamas.. and we’re seeing some family a couple days this week to change things up, and may plan to see some friends once people get back from traveling.

It’s just been really nice not having a time schedule, um not having a reason to throw on a bra Chat Icon, and just hanging out.

I definitely feel like the exception this week since I’ve seen lots of memes about parents losing their shiit and one friend who complained to me before the week even started Chat Icon All I can say is, for us, it’s been nice.

What do you do with your kids this week!??!?!?!

We usually take my son to the science museum, movies, bowling, etc. I’m a teacher so I have off. Work is really slow this week for my DH so he usually takes off.

Nothing. I can't deal with the crowds anywhere this week.
Luckily i am working starting tomorrow so it's DH's problem. Chat Icon

This sounds heavenly actually
If I was off all week I can tell you I'd barely get dressed.
Dd has so many new toys and games to play with from Christmas ao she has been busy since yesterday morning.
And tomorrow is already Wednesday. It's going fast

We are still ok at home - although my DH is getting frustrated with the state of the house as well.

We signed my older son up for a basketball "camp" 3 hrs a day for Weds-Fri.

We are getting together with friends - either at someone's house, bowling or a movie tomorrow.

We're going to visit DH at work in the city.

Going to see the Harlem Globetrotters this weekend.

We've been spoiled the past few Christmas breaks that it's been warm enough to do some things outside - this year is an inside only break (which is unfortunate since all DS 1 wants to do is rollerblade!)

yeah... see... (and its my fault, i totally own it...) my kids are SO high maintenance!!!! With me being at home, they're used to having me around at their beck and call all the time, doing things with them. so they have no idea how to entertain themselves. Any toy they get- and i'm not exaggerating- anything- only keeps them busy for MAYBE 10 minutes. ad then they go right back to their iPad, or start asking me to play with them or whatever.... and forget about them cleaning up after themselves. Dishes from eating 3 meals a day at home, crumbs all over the place from snacks, pieces of toys getting lost or just scattered everywhere.
and my husband rreally isn't any help. He's an only child, so he didn't grow up in a chaotic house with noise from multiple kids. so he's as high maintenance as the kids are LOL " Why are they so loud??" " Why are they playing like that?" " Why can't i get anything done?"
It honestly is not fun. BUT, you're right- its a short break this year, so hopefully we'll pull through....

Re: What do you do with your kids this week!??!?!?!

My kids just got so many toys that it will take me at least 2 days to find space for all of this stuff. They both have Girl Scout events planned this week. Other than that I refuse to take them to kid friendly places because they will be packed out and I can’t handle the crowds and noise. I’m hoping for snow this weekend so they can use their new sleds.

we made plans with other friends who have kids. We have somewhere to go every day this week, which will be a good 2-3 hours out of the house

Me and DH both work this week so DD is back where she went to daycare (they take kindergarten children on the school breaks, thank goodness! if not, my parents would have to watch her all week.)

Re: What do you do with your kids this week!??!?!?!

What did you guys do over the summer? I’m a SAHM too, and my DH was off today ((although made work calls and emails so not really)) and goes back tomorrow. I feel like it’s just business as usual here. They have their friends over, they fight with each other, I yell at them to clean up there messes or whatever else. They at least have new toys to keep them occupied ((although my 9 YO is wearing me down and super annoying with his constant need to have the world revolve around him)) but otherwise it’s been good so far with the other 3 Chat Icon

I personally got noise canceling headphones from Santa so that I can finally drink my coffee in peace every morning and that has been awesome these last 2 days! Chat Icon

DH & I are both off this week. Today we hung out at home, ate leftovers, and let the kids use all of their new stuff. Thursday we are going into the city to do some Christmas touristy stuff. Tomorrow my 6 yr old has a playdate at 2. Maybe Friday we will go to my parents, NYE we are having friends over with their kids for a small get together. Keeping it low key this year. It's so miserable outside, I am content being warm and cozy in my house.

lol I could have written this! I say it all the time with the 10 mins every toy lasts to the crumbs and dishes from 3 meals a day! I love hearing it from others though bc a lot of times I start thinking it's just me!

We went to the movies, drove to see holiday light show, baked cookies, today we ran errands and made their pinewood derby scout cars. We also made a tinker crate robot. Tomorrow we are supposed to go to the city but this evening dd said her throat hurts so we shall see.
