Would this tick you off?
Perhaps it seems a bit trivial...but a coworker/friend was in my office when I arrived at work talking to my partner.
I snuck by and put my stuff down, not wanting to interrupt.
I had left this coworker a gift (for her and her husband and her young son) on her desk on Monday (which she did not see until Tuesday because she called in sick). Well all that time in my office this morning, there was no thank you or even a small acknowledgement of it. She just chatted with my partner and left.
I have always been one that sends a thank you card for gifts...its just the etiquette I was raised with. But to not even acknowledge it? I am not asking for fanfare....just a simple acknowledgement in some form.
I am just very put off by that....
What do you think?

Re: Would this tick you off?
She absolutely should have thanked you. Maybe it slipped her mind and she'll come by later when she remembers?

That sometimes happens to me. Someone in my office gave me a gift and I kept meaning to say thank you, but I'd always forget when I was at my computer or talking to her in the copy room. She sent me a thank you email this morning (for the card I gave her 2 weeks ago) and it reminded me that I needed to thank her.

Re: Would this tick you off?
I usually make treats for the holidays for my coworkers in the office and the teams I work with the most. I made stationery sets / lip balms for some of the ladies, and cups with candies and cake pops for the guys. Some girls got these too with lip balms. its a lot of work, but I like doing it.
I think I got 4 thank yous today out of like 22 packages I dropped on peoples desks this morning.
that doesnt include the tins I send to my coworkers in NY (3 tins for 3 departments) and some individual ones too.
So yes, I agree. a thank you or an acknowledgement of the thought is nice.
But I will say it does go a long way b/c when I need a favor in a tight deadline, people dont give me slack over it and will accommodate my crazy schedules.

Still haven't even gotten a text or anything. Maybe its because I'm almost 36 weeks pregnant and super hormonal and irritable right now, but it does bother me that this individual can make countless posts and give comments on Facebook within the past 48 hours and not even text a "TY" to a (what I had assumed for many years) friend.
Thanks for the reassurance!

I gave someone at work $100 gift card yesterday and haven’t gotten a thank you yet (he’s been in the office the whole time). Yeah, I’m pretty annoyed.

Are you 100% positive she got it and that something didn't happen to it?

Maybe she didn't know it's from you? Just say - hey, I wanted to make sure you got the xxx that I left on your desk on Monday.

Yes this is the only thing I could think of. Maybe it got stolen off her desk overnight or soemthing? I'd definitely ask if you don't hear from her soon. Just a quick- hey just wanted to make sure you got my gift because i left it on your desk when you were out sick....

Took your advice and texted her. Apparently she moved the bags (which were sizable) and then forgot about them. Whatever....
