Which job would you choose..
I am a teaching assistant in a private school in NJ. I have been there for 3 years. The school has always been poorly run. But its really gotten bad. As a parent, i would NEVER send my children there, and the thought of getting up every morning to go there is making me sick.
Pros of the job include: great hours 730-330 good health insurance great coworkers
cons: no sick days no 401 k only 2 weeks paid vacation
The new job will have the same hours, I already know some of the people working there and they are great. paid sick days. paid vacations. The one huge Con is there dont offer health insurance and it will cost me alot to buy my own.
So do i stay at a job im miserable at just for the benefit of health insurance? or do i move on for happiness, but it will cost me alot more???

This is a tough one. I’m always one to say leave to make yourself happy - even if it’s less money. But health insurance is a biggie. I would first try to speak to an Insurancee broker and see what your options even are. It may be close to impossible to get comparable coverage and it can cost you a ridiculous amount of $. It may be worth it to stick it out until another opportunity comes along.

If I could afford to move on and I thought I'd be happier even with less cash in my pocket, I would move on. Life is just too short to be miserable.

If you can afford a health insurance plan I would move especially if you are making more and could off set the insurance cost

If the thought of going there everyday makes you feel sick, I'd say it's time to move on. Start looking into health plans, speak with a broker & see how much it will really cost. Then maybe in the future start looking for a place that has everything you want...but in the meantime you'll have your happiness & sanity back! Good luck with whatever you decide!

That's not bad. Can you also tutor on the side or over the summer? That would help!

does your dh have heath insurance offered through his job? If so, what are the costs of going under the plan they offer?
If that's not an option, I personally wouldn't switch. With everything going on since the presidential election, I feel like insurance prices are going to go up alot. Idk... Not trying to make it a political thing, but I do worry about that sort of stuff now, and didn't before.

I don't $200 extra a month is much. If you are really that miserable you can find ways to make cuts on other spending that would cover that $200.

Which job would you choose..
I just took a job with a pay cut and ok benefits (as opposed to great benefits at my old job) because I felt the same way about my old job as you do about your current job. If someone had told me 5 years ago I'd take a job on LI with a pay cut I'd laugh my a$$ off. Even while I was miserable there were days I said I'd stick it out for the pay and benefits. Doing this was the most out of character thing I've ever done.
We haven't felt the financial effects yet but I can tell you I'm much, much happier. I feel like a different person.
So, as long as you can get insurance, I'd take the new job.

Is is comparable insurance? Are there additional costs? My insurance through work has a $12000 deductible. That is partially subsidized by my employer. On my own I may be able to afford the premium but would not be able to deal with the deductible.
I hate going to work. But I have a hard time leaving behind my benefits (insurance).

If the difference is only a few hundred then I'd go for the new job, especially if you are that miserable.
