Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
Is a 5:00/5:30 pm birthday party on a Friday evening a horrible time for a birthday party ( this is for 4 year olds). Party would end by 7/7:30?

Re: Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
For me it wouldn’t be ideal. I get that my 4yr old goes to bed earlier than most, but he’s in bed by 7, 7:30 at the latest. By 5:30 he’s sitting down for dinner.
If he went to a party that ended at 7:30, he wouldn’t be in bed till 9. Is it doable? Sure. Is it ideal? No.
My favorite time is early afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday.

Probably since working parents won't get out of work until 5-530. By the time they get their kids and get to the party, it'll be half over.

Is the party in your town? If so, 5:30 can work. Anything before that is a nightmare for working parents.

I would say for me personally I would be fine with it but if DH had to take them, he wouldn’t be able to, his train doesn’t get in until 5:40 so for most working parents this isn’t ideal to get home from work and then get your kids ready for a party, it would probably stress me if I was rushing from work to make a party.

For me, not ideal as I work until 530 pm and don't get home until 6 pm I could probably get out early though- or work home that day- if it was a close friend

I did this last year. I would expect people to say no. And I did get them and I was OK with that because I had 50 people on out list

No party time is going to be ideal for everyone. You have to book what works best for you. If I had to work and my child wanted to go, I would find someone else to take her. If I couldn't, we would just decline. I prefer evening parties like that instead of a weekend party that is dab smack in the middle of the day.

Re: Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
A party ending for 4 year olds at 7:30 would be very late for me. Also, getting somewhere at 5:00 on a friday would be a nightmare unless it's really close to home. I would try to do it earlier if possible.

Not good for working parents. If your group has mostly a stay at home parent then go for it. I find Friday a bad day in general for parties.

It's not an ideal time, but we would still go. I'd prob. take the day off or something.

I think for that age it's late. My youngest went to a 4th b-day party that started at 5:30 once and it was a giant meltdown.
For an older child - I prefer it.

Re: Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
It would be ok for us. DH gets home from work earlier than I do so he'd bring the kid(s). If that weren't possible I'd leave work an hour or so early so that DS could go because I normally don't even get home until almost 5:30. We'd make it work.

Re: Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
I wouldn't mind it. I would probably prefer it because the weekends can get crazy. I assume it would include dinner and last year when my dd was 4 she went to bed around 8-830. we make exceptions on the weekends when we have things going on though.

I don't think it's too late. I think the only problem might be coordinating to get the kids to the party during a weekday. I would either leave work early or have someone else take my kids.

Re: Kids Birthday Party Timing- Opinion Needed
We would have to decline a party at that time as my husband and I both work and would never make it home on time
