I had mostly teens with lame half costumes.
But my 14 year old son went to one house where the candy bowl was outside and the sign said "only take 3, you are under surveillance". So, being a bunch of 14 year old boys, one of them said to the other "dude take 4, what are they gonna do". Then the guy comes flying to the door and starts screaming at them and threatening them. The guy was sitting inside his house watching the kids on a monitor!! How ridiculous. If you're home, answer the damn door, how lazy can you get!
I think that's hysterical, something I would do, not really, but still funny....serves them right for being greedy...he was generous enough giving out 3 pieces of candy! Im a one and done and wouldn't give to kids that old anyway.
Really? They were all wearing costumes. I will give candy to any age with a costume on, even an adult. They didn't even take the 4th candy, they just talked about it and them got yelled at.
Yeah I don't think 14 is too old to get candy. Hell I had a mom in her 40s come to the door with her kids, she had on some kind of costume I think, nothing crazy, maybe some face makeup and a head band or whatever.....and say trick or treat and grab a candy from my bowl for herself.
I had 40 lbs of candy and I have about 10 lbs left today- I am not going to nit pick over who gets candy. I don't want it left in my house. Please- take it. Satann himself could have showed up and I'd have been like- here take a few kit kats, please!
ETA -by the way, you can't type out S@tan on here. it got starred out when i spelled it correctly the first time. But asshole you can. LMAO
Sorry, I usually agree with you Nell, but I think TOT needs to stop at like 11/12 it gets ridiculous ...just my opinion and obviously I don'r run the world and can't enforce it so my beliefs aren't a threat to anyone on here!!!LOL
For me, I'd rather a 13 yr old than someone walking around with a 6mo old baby and a pumpkin bucket!

I got a few groups of teens. They were polite and I have no issues with them TOT'ing. I rather them be doing that then making trouble or sitting inside on their devices. You're only young once. Why not enjoy it as long as possible.

Me neighbor's 10 yr old son was King Kong but the costume was hysterical. He was in full costume, head to toe, and then the costume inflated with air so he looked like a really huge (but short LOL) King Kong. It was very cute!
A 4-5 year old in our development had the same costume. My DH loved it.
Teens don't bother me at all as long as they are dressed up. I'm pretty sure I went trick or treating until I was a junior or senior in HS. I'm a teacher and I know most of my sophomores went trick or treating last night.

best ToTers
This was our first Halloween as homeowners. DH said everyone was polite, I was out with DS most of the night. Our last trick or treaters we're two apologetic teenage girls around 8:30, saying they got off to a late start. I gave them two huge handfuls of candy because we had so much left over.

I would love it if when DS is 14 he still wants to go trick or treat, instead of doing something else... And as a parent, I wouldn't mind giving those teenagers more candy if they want to. Hey, my friends had the case of a 6 year old getting tons of candies for "her friends".

best ToTers
My son was dying to go to my neighbor ricks house because he has an inflatable cat that he’s completely obsessed with. He thinks Rick puts it up just for him, and talks about him like he is his best friend. Told us he wants to invite him to hooters. So we go to his house and ring the bell and his wife answered instead of him. My son was so upset. He goes “where’s Rick and where is my candy?” She laughed but I was mortified . Luckily we saw him outside later and stopped by to say hi.

Re: best ToTers
We really don't get many ToTers because we're at the end of a dead end street, but my favorite was my 7 month old niece who was a skunk.
I did have a favorite house though....a new family moved in a block over from us and when we got to their house they were giving out candy for the kids and then they had a cooler full of mini wine bottles, beer, and spiked seltzers for the adults. I thought about changing my costume just to hit that house a second time

We live OOS and in our neighborhood Halloween is epic. Streets are mobbed, golf carts decorated, people set up tables with candy, and adult jello shots and shots of straight up liquor. It goes from about 6-8:30 and then the streets are quiet. We give out tons of candy.
I saw a mom with a newborn where the baby was a baby mario and she was weaing him in something that looked like a green sewer pipe from Mario Bros. It was adorable.
Same here for us. We moved OOS and this is our first Halloween in SC, it is amazing how different it was from our neighborhood on LI. Tables set up in the driveways, golf carts decorated, throwing candy out. One guy had a hayride attached to his pickup, handing out beers to adults. It was so much fun this year!
I want to live in a town like this! That sounds like so much fun!
Yes by me too. A lot oh houses had adult beverages. So fun lol.
