LOL- in the beginning of the day probably one piece each.
Although sometimes I offer the bowl so they can choose what they want and if they take a 2 pieces I'm not going to say anything. Chat Icon

Towards the end of the day, when i see we have SOOOO much left- I'm throwing handfuls at them just to get rid of it!!

this is very funny!!

i'm the exact opposite. kids in CA don't go out as early as they do in the north east... so the last few years, i have freaked out that no one is going to come. i start the night by handing it out hand over fist. when they start picking up, i freak out and ration what's left so i don't run out!

I put my candy in those little treat bags. Each bag has 4 pieces of candy - 2 chocolate and 2 pure sugar (like lollipops, starburst, etc.)

Each TOT-er gets one baggie but 4 pieces of candy in the beginning. By the end of the day/night, I will give out 2 or 3 per TOT'er

We have full size bars, and if kids want more than one, I'm fine with that. I love seeing their faces when they get more than they were expecting. Chat Icon

Same. And for my teal bowl, I let those kids take as many as they want bc I don’t get many allergy kiddos.

Pretty much this. Except when the kids at the end are middle schoolers not even wearing costumes and knocking late in the evening- then I'm annoyed and give one piece lol.

I put the bowl of candy in front of the kids and let the kids pick. I offer what ever is in that giant Costco bag. By the end of the night I end up giving fistfuls of candy to the older kids. Let's just say my kids candy is still halfway here from last Halloween. They will get a piece in their lunch for a week or so. DH and I will eat a favorite or two and then it gets stashed in a closet for random picking where I will remember it in September and throw out what is left.

I always tell the kids pick 2. When we go out ourselves, I leave the bowl out and leave a sign thats says pick 2 please.

Re: Politics ain't got nothing on this debate...

I let them pick whatever 3 candies they like

As the night goes on and it’s dying down, I give huge handfuls Lol by the end of the night, when the older kids are coming around, I’ll literally open their pillowcase and pour candy in lol. I don’t want that stuff here because I can’t stop eating it. I’ve already broken into the bags

It depends on the size of the pieces. I usually get the normal fun size. I will tell them to pick 2. DH accidentally bought the big Halloween mix of miniatures one year, so with those I told them to take a handful. The miniatures are so small!

I leave out a bucket- the kids are usually pretty good- they never steal the bucket and I usually have some candy left. I get the fun size- I would think they take 2 each...

We usually leave a bowl out while we take our kids trick or treating. Sometimes there is still candy left when we get back. One year the candy and the bowl were stolen. If there's candy left, the last few trick or treaters who trickle in will get a large handful each. Usually no one comes to the door after 7 or so, so we try to get rid of the candy we have left. One year our niece and nephews were our last trick or treaters for the night, so dh dumped all the candy in to their bags.

I don't buy candy usually. I make a small bag for my friends kids that we go tot'ing with and as soon as the kids get home from school we are out tot'ing with friends. When we are done and go home, if there are any tot'ers I take some candy that my kids don't like or can't have and give it to the tot'ers. Usually about 3 pieces each tot'er. In the past we've bought candy and had so much leftover because we weren't home to give it out. And I hate keeping it in the house since we have 3 buckets full of candy after tot'ing ourselves.
