Booking airline tickets
It has been quite a few years since I took a vacation which required a flight. We have booked Disney the end of April. I am particular that I want to fly JetBlue. When would be the best time to book the flights? I feel like it is so far out and I hate the pricing game the airlines play. I did notice that the prices of the flights have gone up about $30 dollars, but the plane still looks to have plenty of seats open. when do I book?

Download the Hopper app and set up your trip on there. It will recommend when to book.

In my experience - JetBlue typically is lowest when they first come out and increases as you get closer to the date (unless you are flying on a Tuesday or Wednesday - which sometimes will drop).

Re: Booking airline tickets
In my experience fares were cheapest 3 months out. I could kick myself because I booked 6 months out. I could have saved over $100 per ticket had I waited.
ETA this is for a trip I booked to Disney for November

My hubby has been tracking Jet Blue from JFK to MCO and Southwest from ISP to MCO for MONTHS. On Wednesday 35 days prior to our trip, Jet Blue had the lowest round trip fare @ $338 vs. $436 for Southwest. It's not apple to apple comparison because on Southwest you get 2 checked bags, and he was using the one checked bag price for Jet Blue. Of course on Jet Blue you have assigned seats.

We just came back from Disney. I booked our flights the morning they came out. We paid $900 for 4 tickets including a piece of checked luggage each. They went up after that, but then went back down. Then back up.

I'm going on a cruise in May sailing out of Port Canaveral so I was pricing flights from JFK to MCO when they were released October 1st and they have gone up (Jet Blue) while other carriers had drops. I ended up booking Delta out of LGA through my cruise line since they ended up being the cheaper. If you're just doing a regular resort vacation then you can wait until you are about 45-60 days out and get those one way deals (like the fall ones that Jet Blue has going on now), but since we cruise I book my flights further out.
