Inexpensive flooring options for an unfinished basement?

We want to make part of the unfinished basement in our new house an area where the kids can play but don't want to completely finish it. I was thinking those interlocking floor tiles or something similar. Any ideas?

We have radiant heated floors in the den and to remove those without damaging the heat source is extremely tricky so we decided to temporarily just add one of those floating floors in top until next year. We are using lifeproof fake wood floors from home depot. Box says lifetime warranty and they're cheap. My MIL says they're really easy to install and should take us an hour. Den is approx 400 sq ft

You could probably do the peel and stick vinyl if you prep the floor correctly.

You can paint the concrete and put down an area rug

sheet vinyl is actually great for basements now believe it or not. I didn't think so, but 4 different stores suggested it over the click and lock tiles. Vinyl is more water resistant than the click and lock laminate stuff. We put sheet vinyl down in our basement for like 2k, and it's a huge basement (we have a wideline cape). It looks like wood

Same. We put down the sheet vinyl that looks like wood floor. It looks like real wood. If there is a water issue, then its a lot easier and cheaper to replace.

I wouldn't suggest laminate. Ours got wet and warped so we had to put down carpeting since that was cheaper than ripping it all up and starting over.
