Just to echo everyone else, I went once not knowing what to expect and it was horrible. Every ounce of potential enjoyment is removed by wall to wall people, not even exaggerating. Sweaty people leaning into you. Even if you have the patience to push your way up to food, there isn't anywhere to sit (or even comfortably stand) and enjoy it. I will never go again and if I were crazy enough to change my mind I would never bring kids under 12yo or so.
And yet it continues to be packed every year.
Some people are just gluttons for crowds and punishment it seems!
See that's what gets me! It's one thing if you don't realize what it's like but to repeatedly go? Do people actually think it's a good time? A normal street fair yes but this is just stupid.

Go early in the daytime. It's not that bad. I'm a police officer in the area and it's been fine during the day. I wouldn't go at night though even without kids. Especially on the weekends.

I wouldn't bring my kids. Too crowded, noisy & nothing for them to do imo. I enjoy it personally... I used to work a few blocks away & go during my lunch hour & it was never too crowded but last year I went on a weeknight but early (like 5pm) & it wasn't too crazy yet. I just like to walk, look around, buy some treats like gelato & have an Italian meal if I'm with a friend. I miss working right there!
