Mom in Florida
Hey all. My mom lives in Florida and is pretty much by herself aside from a few friends. I wanted to send her a care package to cheer her up and take her mind off of Irma. (And potentially for her to use during Irma.). What would you include?? She's on a diet so I don't want it to be all chocolate and goodies. Any suggestions?? Thanks so much!

Re: Mom in Florida
are there some local treats that she would like?
* a good novel * a puzzle book... or a puzzle * an adult coloring book and colored pencils * pictures of family * a head lamp... to read if she loses power

My parents are down there and my mom bought books. They read a lot but she uses an e reader so she knew that wouldn't last long. She bought them head lamps for reading. They have flashlights for moving around but the headlamps are great for reading or cooking

I have this thing called a Halo Bolt. It's a batter pack/charger thing that has a plug outlet in it so you can plug a lamp into it, charge your phone, has a flashlight, and will jump your car (not that you need that for a hurricane). I would see if they have one on Amazon. Especially for the charging features to keep you updated in the event the power is out for a while.

Today on HSN they are selling a preparedness kit with food that is shelf stable for 25 years. All you have to do is add water. I have no idea if it's any good but I thought it seemed handy to have.

Keep in mind that if storm hits, they probably wont send out the mail carriers.

So...if Amazon is now telling me that the delivery will be on Saturday - do you think the stuff will even get to her, or should I just cancel the whole thing??
