From what Im reading online it looks like employer has 30 days to notify the administrator and then the adminstrator has 14 days to notify employee.

Thats what I read but someone said I should have been told right away.
I guess during that time I have no medical coverage? do you know. I was told 8/31 mine ends but a co-worker thought we have an additional 30 days.
the company has no HR person to ask

I know when I went out on disability after giving birth I got sent a letter in the mail. I thought that once you elect coverage it is retroactive up to 60 days? I could be wrong. At my last job my health coverage stoppes the last day I worked. At my current jo b it ends at the end of the month. So say I work one day in the month of Sept, I would still hve coverage until the last day of Sept. I would contact your health care provider and ask.

Re: COBRA help, HR peps help or anyone that knows
I do *think* it is 14 days because you as the employee only have 60 days from the date of termination to elect COBRA coverage. In my experience the employee was always given the COBRA information THE DAY OF termination of employment. You can always call HR or your insurance carrier directly and demand the paperwork ASAP. Also, even if you elect COBRA on the last possible day, note that it is retroactive to the date of termination. So if you leave your job on 6/1 and elect COBRA on 7/15, you will be deemed to have coverage starting 6/1.

If your coverage terminates, you have several months to opt in to COBRA coverage retroactive to the date of termination. I am pretty sure that it works that way. I do HR but COBRA is not an issue we have to deal with as no one has ever elected to accept it.
