Potty training questions
My daughter turned 2 in May. I have this nagging feeling like she is ready to really give potty training a try. She keeps showing interest in the potty and asking to sit on it. However, I have a new baby coming in 8 or less weeks. A few questions:
Should I wait until after baby?
How did you know your little one was really ready? I don't want to rush this for no reason!
Thanks!

Potty training questions
We did the 3 day potty method when DD was 2 1/2. I thought she was ready because she was showing a lot of interest in the potty, would want to sit on her potty and would occasionally pee in the potty. She was also verbal enough to tell us when she had to go.
According to the author of the 3 day potty method, she actually recommends doing it at 22 months, but I thought that was too young for DD. For us the 3 day method worked really well and she was pretty much trained by the end of day 2. She of course still has an accident here or there, but I would say 99% of the time she is great. We didn't do night or nap training, for those we still have her in a pull-up. I'm just too lazy to be getting up in the middle of the night to change sheets at 8 months pregnant!

Re: Potty training questions
I would do it now! My 2 DD's are 23 months apart and I wish I stuck with it prior to my 2nd being born. I did it at 26 months and DD was trained by the end of day 2 but I had to have DH help because it was hard to follow her around all day and keep a close eye with a newborn to care for

Re: Potty training questions
If she's asking, I see no reason to hold off.
My 26mo DD came home from day care and said she wanted to wear underwear. I said ok, thinking she would have accidents everywhere b/c she had NEVER peed in the potty. She was fine that night, had 2 accidents the next day, and 0 after that. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks and she literally potty trained herself in 1 day. DS was just as easy, though he was a few months older.

Potty training questions
I would do it now. We just trained DD who also turned 2 in May and its going really well. We opted to skip pull ups altogether and went straight to underwear - we let her pick out which character ones she wanted at the store and she was so excited! I didn't really follow a program or method. Just did it when we knew we were going to be home for 3-4 days with nowhere to go. At first I asked her all the time if she needed to go and would bring her to the toilet to sit on it. After about 2 days, she started to verbalize that she needed to go or would just take herself to the bathroom. I never used one of those kid pottys -- we just bought the insert seat to use on the adult toilet. I had absolutely no interest in dumping pee/poop and then washing it out. She still wears a pull up overnight but has woken up dry 4 of the past 6 nights. I am going to wait a little bit longer to attempt just underwear at night. She does wear underwear during naps and has been great!
