Family friendly, but unique/different, just overall really nice places?
Lol. My husband wants to go away in feb for his 40th but wants a super nice hotel on the beach. He wants different. But not overly expensive. Not run of the mill carribean. We have 3 kids. Youngest will be 1 1/2. So not a terribly long flight. Any ideas?

That is tricky. A "super nice hotel on the beach" that is "different" is probably going to be expensive. What is "run of the mill carribean" to you though? Which places have you been before? Are you flying from Long Island?
I was also thinking Costa Rica.

St. Martin (both sides) was different, and the beaches were beautiful.

My home away from home. Heading there in 12 days to our time share at the Westin.
If you want to try a time share rental, I highly recommend Redweek.com. We used it to rent an additional week, now we just work directly with an owner.

The Baths on Virgin Gorda are beautiful and definitely different.
If you don't want "typical Caribbean", would you consider a European beach vacation - Greek Isles, Spain, Italy, Croatia - all supposed to have beautiful beaches

Actually there are some really nice, private resorts on islands off of belize if I remember correctly. they are not overly expensive but they cater to only a handful at a time and its supposed to be very private like having the beach all to yourself. so maybe one of the belize islands.

thanks everyone I will look into these. MY DH can be dramatic lol and he's being a pain. he doesn't want like atlantis in bahamas but we were looking and some were 12,000 a week. he's very picky. the majoe issue we have is my son. He will be 1 1/2 so a long flight is out right now and he's a tough kid and screams a lot lol. He wanted to do Asia but to long of a flight for us right now. these are all great thanks so much

Look at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. It's in Playa Del Carmen. DH and I went there for our babymoon when I was pregnant with DD1 and we have always said we will go back with our children some day.

We were JUST looking at the RIU in Costa Rica. Kids stay and eat for free there. It was very affordable and it looks amazing!
