Rock n play vs mamaroo
Can someone tell me if I need both of these?
I'm sure I don't but which one is going to get more use? I borrowed a mamaroo from someone and then my husband got a rock n play for 40bucks so it's not expensive but if I can return it and swap that out for something else, I'd rather do that
Any advice?

Re: Rock n play vs mamaroo
They're different IMO. The mamaroo is more like a swing. I only had the mamaroo, no rock and play and it was fine. But I know a lot of people have their LO sleep in a rock and play for naps or even at night, especially if LO has reflux issues. We never did, but DD was easy going- she slept in her bassinet and crib no problem since day one. It's tough because you never really know which one a baby is going to like better. For the $40, I'd probably keep both if you have the space.

Rock n play vs mamaroo
We returned our Mamaroo after about a month because my first son never really liked it, and numerous of my friends have agreed that their babies didn't like the Mamaroo. My first son prefer the traditional baby swings at his daycare so we bought one from Craigslist.
The rock n play is probably our most used baby item. With both my sons, we used it during the day for naps (My second is napping in it right now.). It's light so you can move it easily around the house. It's a good height to reach the baby while sitting or standing. We don't even really use the rocking aspect that much, but it's just a great place to set the baby down wherever you are.

Rock n play vs mamaroo
My son hated the Mamaroo and LOVED his Rock n Play. I was so sad the day he out grew the RNP.

Re: Rock n play vs mamaroo
I have both. The Rock and Play is a non-negotiable. You need it. You will love it. It's magical. Babies sleep very well in it and its super easy to travel with. The mamaroo is more comparable to a swing. I actually returned my swing because DH had to have it. Big mistake. None of my 3 sons liked the mamaroo. Someone gave me a swing for the last 2 boys and they loved that and it would put them right to sleep.

All my kids have loved the Rock n Play. I don't know what we'd use without it. Never had a mamaroo.

Re: Rock n play vs mamaroo
I definitely found that DD liked a traditional swing better than the mamaroo. My mom had a regular swing at her house and she spent more time in that than the mamaroo at our house.

LOVED the rock in play! It was amazing for the first few months.
I never had a mamaroo, but i know people that have. If you dont have any other type of swing, then I would say definitely keep it. The Rock n Play is great for naps and sleeping at night, but it doesnt have any sort of movement or calming sounds like a mamaroo or swing for them to just hang out in.

Rock n play is a must IMO.
Mammaroo may just help to soothe - you may need or may not need. We had a swing, not a mammaroo. None of my friends' babies liked it, so we didn't bother to give it second thought.

Rock n play vs mamaroo
Totally agree that they are two different things totally. Mamaroo we really didn't use much. It was just one of those things that's a case by case basis. He used it for maybe a week but that's it. He was always a squirmy baby. Rock and play I highly suggest... I find that a lot of babies don't love the bassinet, and end up in the RNP - we had two. One I kept at my MILs house for when she watched him, and the other we kept at home, and it went with us to every room lol

Re: Rock n play vs mamaroo
I used both for different things. We used the Rock & Play in our bedroom for the first few months as DD2s crib. the mamaroo was in the basement for her to play in or sleep in while I was playing with DD1.

Rock n play vs mamaroo
I used both but for two different reasons and looking back I'd still do the same. The RNP we used when he was a newborn but mostly just for naps. He was out of it by 3 months but the convenience of it is awesome. the mommaroo for me was a lifesaver. my son never slept in it but it occupied him and still does at almost 5 months. without the mommaroo I'd never would've been able to wash bottles, throw on a load of wash, have a cup of tea or accomplish anything for that matter. I'm a huge mommaroo & RNP fan! Also, not sure when you are due, but my SIL had a spring baby, and we used the RNP even at the beach under an umbrella.

Re: Rock n play vs mamaroo
I can't compare cause we didn't have the mamaroo, but the rock n' play was a lifesaver. We got 1 as a gift and then bought 2 others so we wouldn't have to keep moving it from room to room or up & down stairs etc.
