Re: Looking for some insight/thoughts...
I am a RN on a medical surgical floor with a high focus on GI surergies. We see a lot of GI cancer patients. Some of them are young and it definitely hits you a little harder than someone who is later in life. 34 is so young to have passed away plus having 3 small children it is easy to relate and see yourself in their position. It is so scary! Maybe you need to see a therapist to just have someone to work through all that you see. Oncology is not for everyone but you sound like an amazing oncology nurse. You could always transfer to another unit and if you want to go back in the future I am.sure they would take you back.

I think what you do is amazing. My brother was in a long term care facility for 22 years for a traumatic brain injury and finally succumbed to his condition last summer. I wish his caregivers showed an ounce of the empathy and compassion you do.
It sounds like what you do is a calling and should not give that up lightly. I don't have much to add to what others have posted here but wanted to say thanks and best of luck in whatever you decide to do.
