Help pierced ears!
I found my daughters earring crushed on the floor next to hr bed. She obviously took it out. I think maybe at night when she was supposed to be sleeping. I can't get it back in partly bc she is screaming crying when I even touch it to look.
What do I do? Take her back to the jewelry store? Force it in?
ETA fix spelling and she admitted that she took them out the night before.

My daughters earring fell out and she won't let me touch it, she's walking around with one earring lol. I don't see the point in holding her down to put it back in. Eventually I'll prob take the other one out and she can re pierce when she's older.

Re: Help pierced ears!
DD doesn't like when I change her earrings but sometimes she'll let me. If not, I change them when she's sleeping. ETA: Putting some Aquaphor or similar ointment on the post helps it slide right in.

That happened to us. We just forced it back in her ear while she was napping. She just stirred but it was back in. You can always take her the jewelry shop. The longer you wait though it will close up completely.

Re: Help pierced ears!
My jeweler told me to sick the post in the tube of a&d to coat the post - it slides right in. I find it easiest to change earrings when she's in her high chair. I have someone occupy her while I do it. Less wrangling.

Help pierced ears!
I would give it a try right after a bath or shower while her skin is wet. I always find it very easy to get them in then. I personally wouldn't force it though if it seems to have closed. Did she just recently have them pierced?

Yes they were done in January. I honestly think the hola is closed enough where I jut can't get them in. I tried again and couldn't get it in. I'll probably have to have it redone.
I cannot believe within hours it closed.

Re: Help pierced ears!
How old is she?
did she take them out on purpose because she doesn't like them for some reason? If so, honestly, I would definitely not force them in, I'd let them close back up and get them redone when she wants earrings and is old enough to be responsible with them.

She's 4.5 She loves them! I don't know why she took it out. We went back to the jeweler and bc she was freaking out and the ear was bruised (from me!) we decided to wait a few weeks and re pierce. I cannot believe the top layer closed up so fast!

Re: Help pierced ears!
My guess is it's still open, but it's so tiny and you're being hesitant.
With my DD, her holes are just so tiny because she hasn't worn heavy earring to stretch the hole. Sometimes it seems as though the hole is closed, but I can always just push the earring through. The issue is that you have to go straight through. Sometimes I find it's easier to push it through from the back just to make sure it's open. Then go in from the front.
Use a piercing earring so it's pointed. Push it through until you think you hit resistance. Then look at the back of the ear. You'll be able to see the point and direct it through the back of the hole. No matter what, the entire hole couldn't have closed overnight. IMO, it's easier just to push it through than re-pierce.

Thank you! I totally did that and tried from the back and a drop of blood came or the front. When we went to the jewelry store they used vasoline and still couldn't get it in. It's definitely bruised and swollen now from my efforts. Also she doesn't help bc she's terrified of it all now.
I told her that it hurts bc mommy bruised her ear and when the bruise goes away we'll go back and use he earring machine which WONT hurt bc the hole is there. She even picked out new earrings.
I almost feel like taking the other one out and saying screw this. But then I feel like we'll have to deal with it again one day. My daughters preference is to leave the one earring lol.

Re: Help pierced ears!
Ack. Just leave the 1 in. Nobody will notice but you. Better than having to re-pierce both ears!
I find my daughter does best when I lie her down and just do it quickly. You have to be confident so it doesn't irritate her ear so much. DD had tubes put in December so we had to take her earrings out and I was petrified after them being out for hours that they'd close up, but luckily they didn't.
Just let your daughter focus on the new earrings and it'll be fine! It's over quickly at least!
