learning academy - teacher gift question
I was just told that DS will be aging out of his baby class in a couple weeks and moving to a different class with the older kids. He's staying in the same school, he will just have a new teacher now. I read online that some parents give a gift to the old teachers. So I was just wondering the protocol for teacher gifts? Is that the norm? I just want to make sure I do what's considered normal lol.

learning academy - teacher gift question
I do if I really liked the teachers and feel that they deserve it.
If the teachers were just ok, I didn't give anything.

learning academy - teacher gift question
My DS moved up in January/February - right after I had given a gift for Christmas.
I wound up still giving a small cash gift to the lead teacher ($25) cause I really liked her. I then brought in bagels for the rest of the daycare staff. I figured that was better than $5 for each assistance - it actually cost me less in the long run!

Re: learning academy - teacher gift question
I would definitely give a gift. Most likely a gift card or cash. How long has your DC been with the teacher/s? That would help determine the amount I would give each.

learning academy - teacher gift question
I always do Christmas gifts. So if my child moved in the middle of the year the original teacher got a gift as did her new one.

He's been there about 5 months and he's had the same 2 teachers since he started. He goes part time. Mon Wed Fri for 2.5 hours. How much do you think is appropriate? I want to make sure I have the gifts ready for his last day with them.

I did gift cards for Christmas but I didn't gift the new teachers as I had no idea he would be moving up before the end of the spring session. So I guess this is kind of like an end of year gift for his old teachers but it's not technically the end of the school year. No one I know has kids yet so I have no clue what is the norm regarding how much and when to give teachers gifts. I only knew to give a Christmas gift because I asked here lol.

Thanks for the input! I like the teachers he's had so far. I hope it continues that way lol.

That sounds nice! I'm still kinda new there so I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering food for them. I get such terrible social anxiety so I'm sure I would make it awkward somehow lmao. Once he's there a while I think that's an awesome idea.
I think the floaters are the same in his new class and only cover the teachers breaks. So I prob don't have to gift them again right? I already gave them gift cards for Christmas.

I that case I would give Starbucks gift cards, $15-20 each. I wouldn't get anything for the floaters since they probably don't see your DS that often and they may continue to see him in his new class anyway.
