I think a lot of it is information overload - there are only so many things we can read - that we choose not to. I see it all the time.

OMG it's bad at my job. Especially certain salesreps.
I sent a statement of work to one of my salesreps- I said specifically, this is a draft statement of work, it needs to be formatted etc.... please don't send to the customer. The document was not formatted, it had highlights and notes in it, it had blanks that needed to be filled in , the pages weren't numbered... you get the point.
3 seconds later I get an email from him to the customer, copying me- Hi Mr Customer, here is your statement of work. And sends him the draft document.
I call him and say, that was a DRAFT, you weren't supposed to send it.
His response- why didn't you tell me? You're made me look bad.
I can't

It's true. It's information overload. Our brains don't function properly lol We read good place to eat - BAM - give Rec. Forget the rest

How about when people on FB don't spell your name correctly when it is right there in front of them!
I get that a lot for my bday on FB. It just boggles my mind.

There are a few posters on here who just need to be heard. Doesn't matter what the topic is, somehow they'll make it about them. Or not.

I have a "friend" (using the term loosely bc she sucks) who has been spelling my name wrong for YEARS. The first time I pointed it out to her & I thought it wouldn't happen again... since then she's seen my name spelled correctly dozens of times... texts, signed cards, FB... yet every. single. time. the dope still spells my name wrong!!!! Are you an idiot???? By the way she also spelled her own husband's name wrong on their Christmas card this year.... I was just Proofread before you order?????

It's one of my pet peeves too! If a question is asked & it simply requires a yes or no reply or a reply that requires actual personal experience, there is always that person that throws posts a nasty judgy comment about your post without giving a useful answer. Usually it's the same people over & over again.

Yes! I always say to myself: why are they even responding if they have nothing useful to input". So unnecessary.

This drives me nutty too. People I email with at work always spell my name wrong. They put Stacy, instead of Stacey. And my name is clearly right there in the email.

Truth
It especially bothers me when it's a question for a specific group Like anyone who has lost a parent (morbid I know but stay with me for a second). Someone will say something about losing a parent looking for info on how to care for the finances. Inevitably someone will respond with well I haven't lost my mom yet but here's what I would do... or well my sisters cousins neighbors first wife lost her stepmother and they went thru hell...
That's what bugs me.

There was a typist at my old law firm who would spell my name wrong - on letters being typed on firm letter head WITH MY NAME RIGHT ON IT! All she had to do was LOOK at the letterhead to see how to spell my name (never mind that I worked there for 9 years )

Re: A post about posts
Your post is so true about life in general. People do not take the time to read; they assume they have a general sense of what the content says and run with that.
As a teacher, I try to make students realize the value of reading instructions/prompts/etc. My rubrics and general grading emphasize rewards for following instructions and penalties for failure to do so.

Or they just don't care and think they are an expert in everything, even though they don't have experience in it.
I love this article. I usually send it to coworkers.
