Parking ticket
Has anyone plead not guilty to a parking ticket and won in Nassau County? I got $135 parking ticket in the merrick train station. It was directly across from the movie theatre. Apparently there are the big yellow signs that you need a permit at the entrances (which I unfortunately didn't notice) but the lot is huge and they are only at the entrance. The thing is, the spots directly across from the theatre has the small (white with red writing) signs that say "NO PARKING 4am-10am). This sign was misleading because it looked like you could only not park there at those times. Not being someone who ever travels to the city I didn't have a clue. Do I have a chance?
If it were $50 I would just pay it but $135 is INSANE!!

Honestly, I would just pay it. In order to fight it, you need to appear and fight the ticket which will take at least 1/2 a day to do. Then, even if it is dismissed in its entirety, you still have to pay an administrative fee of $45.

You could try but FYI you basically need the permit for all the spot at the Merrick Train station now. Even if you don't travel to the city often, it's worth the 10 bucks for the permit just in case. I think only the spots directly under the tracks do not require a permit but those spot fill up really quickly.

Re: Parking ticket
If you have the time to goto the court then I would fight it. Tell them your exact story. If you don't have any other prior tickets there is a good chance they will throw it out or reduce it. Good luck!

Re: Parking ticket
What are you fighting?
If you didn't obey the sign, they give you a ticket.
I wouldn't fight it as a day of my life not spent in court is worth more than 135 to me.
I actually paid $100+ ticket written in error to us by some town near Syracuse. The only way to fight was appear in court. We've never been there and they had the wrong type of car! Probably a clerical error but it was our liscense plate and up to us to clear up. We were 10000% innocent. Annoying but only option was going there to prove it.
