Has anyone been to Japan?

We will be going to Tokyo next month with our 3 yr old and was wondering if anyone has gone with a toddler?

Re: Has anyone been to Japan?

I've been, but never with a toddler. I did a review on here in 2007. If you search my name with Japan, it should come up in the search.

Has anyone been to Japan?

We went many years ago but didn't have the kids with us. It was a lot of walking. It was the most exhausting trip I've ever had. Definitely bring an umbrella stroller everywhere and wear comfortable walking shoes. I wish I could go back. Have a great time!

The long flight is what concerns me. I don't think my kids can last a 12-14 hr flight.

we just took our 6 year old son to Korea... because we're adopting another little boy from there Chat Icon the flight is about 13 hours. our son did GREAT!!! WAY better than we expected him to! he slept for about 5-6 hours each way, then the rest of the time watched movies on his iPad, or on the little TVs the plane had. plus they served a couple meals and snacks, which killed some of the time, too.

Not with a toddler, but I loved Tokyo.

The "subway" was super easy to navigate, the JR line specifically. Much easier than NYC in my opinion.

I would totally go back with my kids, but mine could not handle that flight right now.

I will say I did get kicked by a toddler for about 13 hours on the plane, just have lots to do on the flight, lol.

We did like 8-10 miles a day. My friend that went said he was clocking in 18 a day. Obviously you walk as little or as much as you want but the subway walks are long! Our hotel was located at a train station and we still had to walk 15 min to physically get to a train.

You were right!!! The walking was crazy!!! I wore comfy sneakers and my feet still hurt at the end of the day. There were days that I cut a bit short just because my feet were so sore. It was def an adventure and it was by far the cleanest countrie I have been to. The best bathrooms!!! Even the subway bathrooms were super clean.

Right!?? I usually have stage fright using public bathrooms for #2 but in Japan if there was wifi like at a don quijote, dh and I would take breaks lol. At the airport on my way home I went and there was no seat warmer or sounds of raindrops ! I felt cheated.

Glad you had a great time!! I hear dh at least 5x a week say "I miss Japan". I brought back half a suitcase of hello kitty merchandise and Kitkats. Best country ever!!

Yes the kit kats!!! We brought back the green tea and dark chocolate plus I picked up Saki flavor at the airport and then we ventured to the stand alone kit kat store and I bought a small box of unique flavors for $10.

The seat warmers and bidet options were great. I want one of those toilets for the house. We flew out of Haneda and those bathrooms had them. The best family bathroom with a couch in it.
