woud you write a letter of complaint?
If you had a bad experience at a hospital, say while in labor, would you write a letter?
I seriously think about my experience on a daily basis. Would northwell even care?

woud you write a letter of complaint?
Yes. They usually send a survey in the mail afterwards. I would fill it out for sure.

If I was dissatisfied with care, I would definitely write a letter.

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
Definitely. In addition to the survey, I would try to find out who the boss is of whoever your complaint is directed at. If it's the doctor, then find the chief of the department. If nurses, then find the nurse manager and send those people letters too.

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
That is crazy, even if you had never done any preregistration at all and never been there in your life it still should not take that long.
My first trip to L&D was very early in my pregnancy so I had not preregisteted yet, nor was it an super time sensitive emergency (was sent from dr office for a procedure, so not in labor or anything like that) and it still only took 10 minutes !

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
I'd be very upset, too! I mean it's an emergency at that point- you were about to have that baby in the damn waiting area! Though I did have to confirm all my information even though I was pre-registered.
ETA: My hospital sent a survey so I don't know if I'd write a letter or just fill out the survey. Maybe include a letter with the survey to explain your dissatisfaction.

I would actually call and talk to the supervisor of the admissions staff and then follow up with a letter.

Yes I would definitely write a letter and possibly even call to speak to someone. I used to work in a hospital and they take patient comments/complaints seriously.

I work in a hospital and they take patient compliants very serious! They want to know - I would speak to who is in charge of the admission department.

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
Sometimes it just feels good to get it out there. Writing a letter can certainly be a good course of action.
Are you expecting any recourse from the hospital? The thing with hospitals and the healthcare industry in general is that there are protocols and standards that they follow even if we think they are wrong or cold or whatever. I was involved in a malpractice lawsuit and it was incredibly hard to "prove" malintent and that there was a deviation from the standard of care.
Maybe a therapist is more along the lines of someone to help you work through the feelings

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
No recourse. I just want them to know they suck & hope they realize how urgent it can be when admitting pregnant women.

Re: woud you write a letter of complaint?
Definitely call and write a letter. Also, mention it to your OB since they may be able to tell you a specific person to contact.

Definitely write a letter. We had an issue with a family member being treated poorly in the ER and we contacted the patient advocate and let me tell you, they were bending over backwards when all was said and done (probably trying to avoid a lawsuit but still).

I'd call a patient rep and then follow up with a letter.
IMO, Northwell has gotten too big for their britches which is why the call is imperative. The letter may very well get lost or tossed.

Not sure what your experience was... but write a letter. They go to others than provide the care... so it may go to heart. Good letters are valued too... BTW: but those are never written.
Those surveys go to billing/reimbursement through insurance, which may screw the doctors (who may have been OK).
