Is this the flu? **UPDATE
My son had a low fever on Thursday. About 100.3. Was fine all day Friday. Saturday night his eye was puffy and stuff was coming out of it, but it wasn't pink. Sunday I took him to the doctors and he had no fever, but got eye drops for congestion in his eye. Everything else was clear and fine. He came home from school Monday and was fine till around 3:30 - 4'ish and said he was freezing and had a fever of 103. He went to sleep and then woke up perfectly fine this morning with no fever. About an hour ago his eyes looked glassy and he said he was cold. Now his fever is over 103 again. I have a doctors apt later. I wonder if it's the flu. I know there's a fever virus going around too. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks
Update - went to the doctors and it's strep. Never would've thought bc he never threw up or complained about a headache. I'm glad it's a fast recovery and already doing better on the meds. Sooo much going around. My friend's daughter who had the same exact symptoms went to the doctor and it's the fever virus. Lots of washing and Lysol!!

Re: Is this the flu?
One of my sons had something similar minus the oozing eye. He just had random fevers and for the most part was in good spirits. It took several days to shake it but I don't think it was the flu just a cold

Re: Is this the flu?
DD was just diagnosed with the flu yesterday. For her, it came on very suddenly. She woke up drenched in sweat with a 105 fever, and some cold like symptoms, then as the day progressed she started complaining of various body aches . She's just weak and miserable, and the fever has stayed pretty high despite piggy backing. She was completely fine in the days leading up to this though.

Is this the flu?
For those I know that had the flu- their fever stayed through the length of the flu.
For those with the fever virus - their fevers went up and down.
Both are going around our school.

Re: Is this the flu?
This sounds exactly like the virus that kept my daughter out of school for a week.
Started with a headache and fever. thought she was just about better then eye boogies and fever again. then two days later finally better.
She seemed to do best whenever i got her to eat. So push fluids and whatever food he might be willing to try.
