Juror Questionnaire

I received some time ago a juror questionnaire form and I ignored it, now I just received another questionnaire and this time it is says Notice of Delinquency. If I were to ignore this one what happens next, will I get a subpoena?

Has anyone ignored these questionnaires and it just went away?

thanks.

Re: Juror Questionnaire

It won't go away. If you fail to respond to this one, you will get a summons to appear. They will make you appear and fill out the questionnaire in person. Then within a couple of weeks you will receive a jury summons.

Re: Juror Questionnaire

I think I threw them out twice before finally filling one out.
They have no proof you received it- so my excuse was I never got it.

Juror Questionnaire

My brother recently told me that he ignored a few of them (definitely more than 2) and they just kept sending them to him. He finally sent one in a few weeks ago - hasn't heard anything yet

It will not go away. And Judges really don't believe the "I didn't get it" excuses - it just makes them more annoyed.

Juror Questionnaire

Why would you not respond to it?

Sure it's annoying to miss work, but it's part of your civic duty.

Re: Juror Questionnaire

When you do get the notice to call in, postpone it to a holiday week.
I postponed it once to the 4th of July week and barely anyone got called.

The next time I postponed it to Thanksgiving week- and even less people got called.

I called in a few days, and was off the hook for 6 years.

Re: Juror Questionnaire

I know it is my civic duty but I find it very time consuming to be on jury duty. I have been on jury duty plenty of times and after the 6 or 7 years that you are exempt after serving I get the summons in the mail.

Most of my friends have never served jury duty and I get these notifications quite a bit.

I don't want to get a summons to appear so I will complete the questionnaire and deal with jury duty when I get called to appear.

Thanks.

Re: Juror Questionnaire

I would fill it out, takes less than 5 minutes to fill out.

Interesting - both my DH and I get them more or less every 7-8 years. I feel like this the same for my friends.

I've been summoned 3 times and I am in my mid 30s so that actually equates to more than that, but I have lived in 3 different counties so that might factor into it. I have only actually had to report once.
