1st Dentist Visit
Hi! Took my 4 year old the dentist today for the first time. She had two small cavities. The dentist mentioned giving her laughing gas and filling them. Does anyone have any experience with laughing gas? I am a little hesitant about it. TIA!

Re: 1st Dentist Visit
My 4 year old had it during a mini root canal...she needed it because she had (and still does to a degree) severe Doctor anxiety. There was no way she could have the procedure done without something. She was fine and we had this done with a very well known and respected pediatric dentist. For a filling, I probably wouldn't do it unless there was a reason, like severe anxiety.

Re: 1st Dentist Visit
My 3 year old son had it for a little cavity. I chose to use it because I did not want him to have a bad experience and start having fear of the dentist so early in life. Honestly, I am so happy I did it. He was so relaxed and tolerated the filling like a champ. They turned it off and it is out of their system so fast. He sat up and was like I can get a treasure now from the toy chest. Lol

1st Dentist Visit
My daughter had a small cavity at 4 years old as well. They used the laughing gas and everything went smoothly. The dentist spoke with her the whole time and explained everything and showed her every tool she was using. My daughter is very curious and always has a million questions. Lol. I sat in the room with her as well. It was actually comical seeing her so happy while getting a filling. They turned of the gas and they had her breathe a little oxygen and she was totally normal within a minute.

Thank you so much for your input ladies! I really appreciate it and for help calming me down about this. Think I am going to go that route. I don't want her to have a bad experience without it and then never get her back there again.
