I guess it was only a matter of time...

My family has been struck down with the stomach bug. It is awful. DH, 5 yr old DS, & 3 yr old DS, plus myself, all have it. The girls do not, so 21 month old twins are staying at my parents, and my 6 month old is staying with my in laws. Please tell me this is a 24 hour thing!! Chat Icon

12 hours here too. Mostly bad stomach pain and she just threw up once. Hope it's quick and the girls steer clear!

Mine lasted 24 hours, though I did have a little nausea and weakness for a day or two afterward. But I think that's just because I wasn't eating, was throwing up, taking care of DD, and still breastfeeding. Thankfully, DD did not get it! Though everyone else did- my DH, my parents, my siblings, my aunt. I think DD might have carried it around to everyone. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Omg how does that happen??? The three of us are all just getting over it and this has been my worst nightmare. I'm scared to send DD back to school next week for fear that she'll pick it up again from there.

I don't even know but the second time was way worse. The dr said it was a different strain. My guess DD caught it again at school ??

Different strains.
You won't catch the same one again- otherwise you'd be reinfecting yourself from your own toothbrush and you'd never get better.

But much like the flu, there are several strains of it and you can catch a different one

Yeap my 2 DSs caught it, first vomiting, then diarrhea! Chat Icon

Surprisingly neither DH or I have caught it. I wonder if it's because we're already immune to that specific type?!?

Nobody has vomited or had diarrhea since late last night. Today I have the most MASSIVE headache. Motrin finally kicked in about half hour ago. We are leaving the girls with the grandparents one more night just in case, my in laws leave for Florida tomorrow so they can only keep my youngest one more night. Plus, we want them home anyway. But I can't imagine taking care of 5 kids feeling like this!

Maybe you are dehydrated and that's causing the headache?

The headache is most likely dehydration.
Drink a ton of water and even try some gatorade.

I had a bad headache yesterday and I figured it was because I didn't drink coffee (caffeine withdrawal) and Inwas dehydrated. I downed 2 bottles of water and slept it off.
