Has anyone had this done via the groin area? How long was your recovery?

I had two at St Francis over the last 3 years. You wake up and you cannot move out of the bed for 6 hours. They keep you over night. In the morning I was released. Basically not much recovery. I was a bit out of it and my leg was sore for a day or two. I had a bruise. That's it. First time I stayed still for the 6 hours. The second time I was restless and I got up to walk to the bathroom and I bled a bit. I was put back in the bed and seriously I didn't move. I was scared. The worst part honestly is all the lines, iv, heart monitor. Etc. it's really not a big deal. Good luck.

I was released the same day, back at work 2 or 3 days later, although it felt like someone had sucker punched me to the chest and I ran a marathon at the same time.

Thanks! My mom is having this done, but said it's an outpatient simple procedure, as per her doctor. I am trying to determine if I should travel to her or not.

My dad had this, in and out the same day. The worst part for him was sitting there aftersince he is not a sit still kind of guy. He was back to work at a very physical job in a few weeks, would have been much sooner for a desk job.

If she's on her own, I would. FIL had it done and he was kept overnight but it took a lot out of him. Like a PP said he had a lot of chest pain for a few days after.

My father has had it done several times. Each time he was there overnight. I'm surprised that it is an outpatient procedure for some. He was in no shape to leave the hospital that same day.

I had it done at St Francis and was kept overnight. They didn't let me move for 6 hours and I had to lie flat. I was sore in my groin but other than that I felt ok

Thanks everyone. She is making it sound like it's in and out, easy peasy, like getting a finger stitched up! But, I know my mom, and nothing is ever easy peasy with her when it comes to medical issues! She lives alone, and also has a huge dog to take care of that loves to jump all over her.
