Car seats and carpooling
Just a random thought, but how do people carpool anymore with kids having to be in booster seats until at least age 7. When I was a kid my mom was always picking up neighbor kids or classmates and would drive them home or to activities. I guess now you need the right seat for everyone?

Car seats and carpooling
I have the bubble bum booster in my car as a back up if I ever have to grab an extra kid. Fine for short trips for anyone school age. It rolls up into a small storage bag and you just blow it up in a few seconds when you need it.

Re: Car seats and carpooling
Honestly, I don't see most carpools with any boosters.

Re: Car seats and carpooling
Most of my friends own an extra booster. they are not as expensive as carseats so we just keep 2. If someone picks him up, and they dont have 2, I can just throw mine in since they are not installed in car like carseats.

Re: Car seats and carpooling
I've noticed since pre-k, most of the kids aren't in in boosters. My kids are the rarity being in them still (8 and 9). They don't meet the criteria to be without, so they still use them.

I have an extra booster, so I throw it in if I have to take an extra child with me.

I have a second convertible car seat I use for travel- I have used it when I need to pick up a friend's child. It is appropriate for the age/size of the child.

This but, as other posters said, I see a lot of kids not in boosters at all.

Re: Car seats and carpooling
This is why I don't carpool. I will drive my own daughter where she needs to go in her safe car seat. I am not at all comfortable with anyone else driving her.
And I am not comfortable driving other kids around- especially if they don't have an age appropriate seat or booster.
At age 6, she does one activity and religion. I can handle it on my own.

Car seats and carpooling
1 time a friends drive my 3 yr old but she has a minivan and had an extra convertible seat. My older one is. Now in a booster so it's much easier. But I don't do it often. Only if really needed, as this summer I had a baby and then was in the hospital with him for a week than a few weeks later I was in the hospital and then had surgery a few weeks later. I don't like other people driving her but sometimes it's needed.

Re: Car seats and carpooling
I keep an extra booster in my car. Most of my friends do the same as we carpool a lot for various things. It wasn't until this year (3rd grade) that I have had any kids in my car without one and vice versa for 9yo DS.
