When to buy thanksgiving veggies
Is it too early to buy my vegetables for thanksgiving today? Do I need to go Wednesday? I need: asparagus, broccoli, Brussels, carrots, baby carrots, mushrooms, string beans and lots of various potatoes. I know you can usually get potatoes in advance but when I went the other day the ones I saw were soft. Thank you!

I bought everything Sunday. I may cook some in advance in Wednesday. So I think you are fine today. Veggies dont go bad that fast I'm not stepping foot I. A supermarket Wednesday, never do. To crazy

When to buy thanksgiving veggies
Every week, I buy all my vegetables on Thursday and Friday and they are good the whole next week. I keep potatoes/carrots in the fridge and they are good for weeks

I bought the veggies on Saturday for the dish I'm planning to make. Making it Wednesday for Thursday.

Definitely OK. Root vegetables last a pretty long time anyway.
Going later myself as well. I want to avoid the supermarket for the rest of the week.

I forgot what it's like to only buy on a need basis. We buy our veggies two weeks at time here ALL the time. Some veggies maybe weekly if they are seasonal but mostly yeah.
You just reminded me of the first time I went grocery shopping in Astoria and just did my 'normal' shopping. I had no idea that it was not normal to buy food for two weeks and try to fit it into a tiny little railroad apartment fridge. I'm just used to cooking every single night at home. We eat fresh veggies every day. We use our fridge a lot even if the internet says you aren't supposed to on certain items. They survive just fine.
Farmer's Market is the best! Stock up on weekly basis. Plus now that AJ has a Children's Garden at our Botanical Garden, we have tons of fresh veggies weekly. More tomatoes than I know what to do with! Still waiting on my carrots.
I say go buy your veggies!

I went to grocery store today. It was empty, I was pleasantly surprised. Go before Wednesday, when it gets crazy!

bought everything Sunday and last Friday. Root veggies stay if stored in dry dark cool places
