So Deblasio has weighed in on the protests... I wonder, if you agree with Deblasio on this point, does that make you as much of an idiot as he is? Because he has hands down been the worst mayor in NYC history. I hope we can all agree on that.

Giuliani simply gathered up homeless people and bussed them out regularly. He didn't really "fix" anything.
I know that DeBlasio wasn't a fan of stop and frisk and it looks like stats show that most of the time the majority of people that were atopppd were innocent. Like 9 out of 10 people stopped were completely innocent.
He also is a proponent of universal pre k (although I do understand taxes went up).
I would be interested to hear the other side.
The homeless problem is out of control. The streets are filthy. Rats everywhere again. It's disgusting.
I don't weigh in on him too much because I don't live in NYC but I worked in the city for four years when Giuliani was mayor and there were plenty of rats, dirt and homeless people. I work there again now and I really don't see a difference.

I lived in Queens when Guiliani was mayor and also Bloomberg, and worked there for several more years. I concur with dirt, rats and homelessness being issues at the time. I am glad stop and frisk is gone but otherwise I am not impressed with him.

He is awful! My husband probably spends more time in the city than at home and says the city has changed so much since he has been mayor. He destroyed it.

Live in Queens, don't work in NYC so can't to speak to that but friends that do say it's worse w he in office. His one great contribution was universal prek, which my family greatly benefited from.

Last year my family (kids included) missed a show in the city because protesters basically closed down midtown. Biggest waste of $ and time. He should keep the wealthy folks safe and happy because once they leave for suburbia and take their money (no more NYC taxes, no more bonuses being spent in the city )with them, the city will crumble.

I was asking bc I was curious, no other reason.
Personally I don't think that the mayor should be encouraging even peaceful protests right now while it will cost the NYC taxpayers millions of dollars in police overtime and extra security for Trump. But I am sure a lot of people will disagree with that.

No. Have you ever looked at the revenue stats from the higher earners in the city? They basically support the real estate, businesses, and tax base for the entire city including the boroughs. Read up. Deblasio doesn't seem to comprehend this, and as the city becomes less and less safe, the money will move out. Surprised you think this is a joke.

I have news for you… You/ the wealthy folks Will be experiencing more of a hassle to due to Trump wanting to stick close to his fancy pent house than the White House.
If you think some protesters are draining money and time and energy from your city, just wait until all of the Secret Service and other detail is there all because that buffoon wants to be able to sleep in his bed.

Other than saying the mayor should only keep the wealthy safe and happy (huh??), how can you be so flippant about your fellow citizen's constitutional right to assemble and protest?? This is what makes America unique and free. It is a fundamental right. Sorry if it was a inconvenience for you to get to your show.

I agree 100%.
I don't live in NYC now but I did for 29 years and it will always be my home (and I still vote there) and that man is a pig. He has done zero positive for the city. I actually don't know a single person who supports him and 99% of the people I know live in NYC.
