Are you Stressed?

Like genuinely cannot eat, knot in your stomach, cannot work, cannot concentrate stressed?

I am hearing so much on the news / radio about the stress level of the country today and advice on what to drink?? and some yoga moves to counteract the stress.

I am concerned...I am going out to vote...I am praying and hoping my candidate wins but I am not stressed. It's out of my hands once my vote has been cast.

Is this a real thing or just the media hyping up on something just to hype?

Yes, it's pretty much media hype. I'm not stressed out about it either. We live in a system of checks and balances. The new president isn't going to be able to make huge changes without going through the legal channels to do so. Obama wanted to make big changes and his hands were tied so many times. There's only so much elected officials can do. A lot of people thought it was catastrophic when Obama won... and here we are years later. Still existing lol.

I went out and voted and now I will hope for the best. I will not stress about something I can't control. Everything will be fine regardless of the outcome.

I will have a drink after work though lol. Any excuse for a nice glass of wine

ETA: ok so I see the other post about it. Maybe people really are super stressed out about it. No one I know IRL but apparently some people on here are very stressed.

Yes, but not about the election. There's a lot of personal stuff going on in my life that is demanding my attention, and I am trying to make the right decisions about a whole lot of stuff. I'm trying to balance work and home life, and to ignore the idiotic political crap that is being spewed about on the news, on social media, and in our lunchroom.
I can't control the outcome of the election, I can only hope for the best.

Now on to dealing with the personal stuff.

The president does not have absolute power so it's not like you are going to wake up the day he/she takes office and the whole world will be changed.

Yes. I'm married to a POC who is also Muslim and I'm nervous - more than he is.

I wasn't until like two days ago. And then I was like "shit, man...if this guy wins, people that follow him because of the racist bigotry he spews will probably feel even more validated...what kind of hurdles with DH and I possibly have to deal with?" And I don't really vocalize it much to him.

I took today off. Just came home from a good run. Doing laundry (blahhhhh!) and will be playing my drums to get some of this energy out. Going to cook a nice Mexican dinner for us tonight and just got some Modelo to go with it.

Definitely nervous but trying to enjoy what is otherwise a pleasant day. Tonight I'll be a wreck.

Surprisingly i am not. Last week was horrible for many reasons. I meditated and it helped!
