Chipped front tooth

Would you go to someone who is a cosmetic dentist or regular dentist? Want to try somewhere new for this.

It's small and bonding is what I would do. It bothers me that six months ago I saw another dentist in the same office and he told me to leave it alone and main dentist told me it MUST be bonded. So being told different things in same office by two separate dentists. Strange.....so I want to get another opinion. Also, I did bonding in this office and I hated what they did. They bonded using yellow and it did not match my teeth, so not sure I want to do bonding again there.

front teeth are very hard to fix, sometimes it needs to be capped. Bonding can chip off.

I good general DMD can bond

Re: Chipped front tooth

It depends on the dentist. I chipped my front tooth very badly when I was 21. I needed root canal because of how high up the chip was. The cosmetic work only lasts so long so it has been redone many times and by more than one dentist. The dentists who advertise as cosmetic don't necessarily have more certifications and I found some of them are too pushy. Some other dentists may have taken more courses for cosmetic work. If it is a crown or veneer, then I would recommend asking the dentist to send you to the lab, where the lab tech can make it custom. They are experts at color and light.

ETA: some dentists are a lot more picky than others. You have to judge that for yourself. Some will do the work in such a way that you function but it may not look great. Some are just extremely picky and meticulous. I always want that!!!
