Daycare increase- question
Is it typical for a daycare to increase your rates over time? My DD is in a certified home daycare. My rate went up by $25 a week when she turned 1 a few months ago, the daycare said it was because they supply food. I just was given another rate increase of additional $25/week for this contract year (since she's been there a year already). Wanted to know if this is typical for most daycares?

Daycare increase- question
Are the increases stated in your contract?
My in-home daycare has in our contract that the rate per week will increase in September of each year by X amount.

Re: Daycare increase- question
At home day cares really can do whatever they want. For larger centers, they typically have costs set based on age (babies cost more because there's a lower ratio of children to teachers) and then raise costs once a year.
The center where we are at, the cost of food is factored in. Rates go up once a year, but that's only for new families. Rates are typically held steady for returning families.

Daycare increase- question
I'm at a center. Each room has a set cost. Tuition has increased bi-annually for us. They usually let us know a few weeks beforehand.

Re: Daycare increase- question
We also use a certified in home day care and our rates have never changed. We've been there several years.

Re: Daycare increase- question
At my smaller sized center, the rates go down when they turn 1.

Daycare increase- question
usually the older the child gets, the less expensive it gets. It's at their discretion though.
My 2.5 year old has been in a licensed at home for 2 years and we've never had an increase.

Re: Daycare increase- question
Rates go down as the child gets older but we are in a daycare center.
They have raised price occasionally but not yearly.

Daycare increase- question
Our daycare raises prices yearly - they have gone up $30 per month. $25 per week is a little steep IMO - that's like raising it $100 per month!

Re: Daycare increase- question
Our center raises its prices about 3% every fall.
ETA: Weekly tuition also goes down once they're in preschool and the child to teacher ratio increases.
